Supplements for Runners

Hi!..new to the forum...I am a runner and run no less than 4 miles per day, everyday....Ran my first marathon this past October finished in 4:13...

I take a multi vitamin and a vitamin c tablet each day and was wondering if there were any other nutritional supplements I should take.

I am 46 years old and weigh around 135 lbs...

that's a very good question and i wish i could be of more help. first, i think your crazy :) ... never been able to do that kind of stuff. my uncle has been in the boston marathon twice now and tries to get me to run with him ... not a chance.

anyway, as far as i know, he doesn't take anything special ... drinks a lot of water and has a protein shake once a day.
 
I also am a distance runner on a college team, and I typically get in 50-70 miles of running a week. Supplements I take are multi-vitamin, fish oil, and ground flax seed(more a food then supplement but...). I know some other runners who take iron supps and zinc-magnesium supps.
