supplement suggestions

I have lifted weights off and on for the last little while(with a break recently due to school and sickness) and plan on starting a new regime soon. I want to gain more muscle and also lose the fat around my stomach(really don't have much anywhere else. I am 5'10" and 160lbs. I have been eating pretty healthy(least have been trying recently) in anticipation........anyways, are there any supplements that would help me with my goal. I'm not looking for any miracle supplements, just something to help. Any advice is appreciated
 
no, there are no supplements that let you break the laws of biology.

one cannot 'gain muscle and lose fat' at the same time...not at any appreciable rate that is. pick one ,or the other. then eat to meet those needs.
 
You just contradicted yourself. You're not looking for miracle supplements, but you want a supplement that will help you transform?

I say stick with eating food. Worry about supplements later, if you want.
 
Ok see these are good things to know. So if I can only do one or the other at a time, which would you guys advice I start with?
 
During the entire time that I set a goal to lose 35 pounds, I NEVER took anything other than these:

1. Flax Oil
2. Fish Oil
3. Whey Protein powder
4. Vitamins

Other than possibly Creatine Mono or Creatine Ethyl Ester (because their is some scientific research that supports some added benefit to one that trains), I dont advocate any other supplement other than this one:


Manipulating Diet + Manipulating Fitness Training = KING of SUPPLEMENTS.


I wasnt looking to build a tremendous amount of muscle, rather a very lean muscular medium frame from:

1. Building a knowledge base to support my goal

a. Diet: laws of energy balance, understanding the calorie, understanding the macronutirents, etc, etc. Manipulating the calories and/or macronutrients.

Knowing how to manipulate diet in accordance to applicable goal

b. Fitness training: Analyzing the types of exercises for each body part and how to properly perform them. Calorie affects on length of exercise, types of exercises, etc, etc.

Knowing how to manipulate fitness training in accordance to applicable goal

2. On going and never ending quest for knowledge within diet and fitness AND PERSONAL MOTIVATION.
