Superbowl XL: DETROIT

Just wanted to welcome all of you watching the exhaustive coverage of Superbowl XL in The D.

To many this is about Pittsburgh v Seattle, but to a large number of us Detroiters it has much more to do with killing stereotypes and proving once and for all that Detroit is among one of the greats. The history here is incredible, safety is truly NOT an issue (using common sense), we are fanatical about all of our sports teams, and the majority of us are proud of our city.

One stereotype that couldn't be more true is our work ethic.

So, as you enjoy the game and the view from the Goodyear please consider visiting the city and checking it out for yourself. I'll be happy to suggest the hot spots.

In other news: I've got Seattle to win and the over (47pts) in a parlay, but my heart is with The Bus who happens to be from Detroit...just incase you missed the billionth time that story's been played.

DM

I'm with you on Seattle winning. I might have to take a trip to Detroit sometime.

I'm picking Pittsburgh. They were my favorite as a kid during the Lynn Swann, Franco Harris era when my own Patriots were just so damn God awful they were unwatchable.

Pittsburgh shut down two very good offenses in the playoffs (Cincinnati and Indianapolis)...

Seattle better get pressure on Rothlesberger or he'll pick 'em apart

If Pittsburgh get 11 points clear then they will win,(statistics say so lol),but if Seattle get aheasd they struggle with the pressure....either way will be onme heck of a game

Good points. BUT...Indy is just the team that will probably never get it done. Cincy was stopped, but how? They had to take out Carson, right?

Pittsburgh is solid no doubt, but I'll still take Seattle with the 4pts.

I got to this too late hehe.

You're right DM, we'll never know if Palmer stayed in there if he would have been able to beat the Steelers. They probably wouldn't have scored 31 points in that game though, but you have to admit, holding Indy to 18 with that offense is an accomplishment...

and please, don't get me wrong, Im not kissing Pittsburghs ass here, Im a Browns fan, so you know I dislike them.

WOW!! I didn't know it was within a true Browns fan to even consider picking the Steelers. Although I live in Michigan, I work in Toledo so Browns vs Steelers is a common topic of discussion around the watercooler at work.

As is how much THE OSU sucks compared to ol Maze and Blue!

But Im a MSU fan so I have to hear $h!t from both sides.

Anyway....nice Pittsburgh victory. They played a decent game and had a bit of help from the officials but that's sports. Lookin for a Lions Championship next year.....I mean before I die at least.

I agree they had help from the officials with that one touchdown of Bens, but they still got enough points to win without that touchdown....
The trickplay where RandelEl threw for a touchdown was awesome to watch....
Detroit welcomed our fans like their own and was a great night in a great setting

DM, you don't know HOW much I hated picking the steelers, I thought I deserved to be burned in effigy for that one :D.

and as for the Maize and Blue, don't get me started :)
