Weight-Loss Suggestions?

Weight-Loss

Hello,

I've been dieting for a few days so far and I've been logging all my food into dailyplate and I've been noticing that I'm not taking in enough calories during the day. The thing is, since I'm now eating breakfast I'm feeling...full throughout the day. I'm 20 years old, 5'6", male and weigh at 202 lbs.
If I got my calculations correct, I should be intaking about 2,424 calories.

I work from 9-5, then got to school on Mon-Thur from 7-9:30. I don't really snack on anything when I'm at work because I'm focused on work, and I never eat anything at school so I get home late and make dinner and feel full.
Now, I know not everything is going to go smoothly at first, so I am going to try to find more things that I like to better compliment my meals, and try to work in some snacks. I was just wondering if anyone else had this same problem and had any suggestions?

my profile :)

Hi Josh.

Issues like yours intrigues me. You just started dieting, since you mentioned that you've only been doing it a few days. You say you're having trouble eating "enough."

Yet, you didn't have problems eating "enough" when you weren't dieting, hence the weight problem.

So where's the disconnect?

Don't eat as much as you were when you weren't dieting, but don't eat so little that you're being too restrictive that it interferes with health.

What am I missing?

I'm guessign it isn't so much the amount being eaten but the calorie count. You likely was eating high calorie items but not often.

Could you give us more information? Your stats might help for suggestion as I can't find some info like height and weight.

You know, I'm not sure. I don't know if perhaps eating breakfast just kind of changes things for me since I don't usually eat anything for breakfast. Actually, looking back at my logs I've been steadily increasing my caloric intake. I am just worried cause I wasn't anywhere near 2424 calories. But I think my body is just adjusting to changes in my eating schedule. So I'm going to continue to monitor it and then adjust it.

I'm 20 years old, 5'6", male and weigh at 202 lbs.

Since my wife and I go to school throughout the week, we'd occasionaly get fast food, but that was once or twice a month, and most of the time we cooked dinner, which mostly was burgers, steaks, hamburger helper, grilled chicken, or a oven-cooked frozen meal. Lunch differs, but it's mostly been subs from thundercloud subs. When I got home though, I'd notice I'd snack more often.

And most of those items are somewhat high in calories. So, I would expect that you gained weight cause of that. Now that you are paying more attention, you will get the hang of it. The calorie count is increasing. You will reach that point where you are comfortable and still losing weight.

But the point is, before you decided to lose weight, you were eating far more than what you're currently eating. Hell, you were eating more than 2424 kcal, too.

Of course people tend to clean up their food selection when they decide to eat less (diet), and "clean foods" tend to be more satiating. But not *that* satiating where you go from eating enough to maintain your previous weight to what you're currently eating.

Who knows.

I think you should be measuring your weight every week. There is no way to exactly calculate your calorie needs because all the formulas are generic and cant take into account individual bodies and metabolism.

So the best thing is to use a forumula to find a base calorie intake per day. Then measure your weight every week. If you are not losing any weight with 2400 calories drop that amount by 200. This way you will quickly find out which number is right for your body. And its way easier to eat 2400 calories of mcdonalds than it is 2400 calories of clean healthy food.

for example 4.5kg of cooked carrots = 2446 calories.
