Sport sugar=fat?

Sport Fitness
Hello, I'm wondering, I've heard a lot of the myths and what not about sugar, my question is does it actualy turn into fat or not? I'm kind of confused, I've heard conflicting statements from a couple of sources, so I'm at a loss. can anyone tell me for certain what will transfer into fat and what will not? Anyway, thanks for any replies.

We don't necessarily adhere to the "mens" and "womens" side of this forum often. :D

The thing about sugar is yes it turnes to fat, but not because its sugar.

Any unspent calories are converted to fat, excess carbs, protein, and fats will all turn to fat if unused.

Just to add a little detail, sugar is technically a carbohydrate. It doesn't turn to fat any more than any other carb turns to fat.

If you eat fast releasing sugar, such as glucose of sucrose, this causes an excess of glucose in the blood. To get rid of the excess sugar in the blood the body will store it as fat.

Not all sugars are fast releasing. Fructose, the main sugar in most fruits, is very slow releasing. Complex carbs are also slow releasing. Fibre helps release the sugar more slowly as well. If your worried about sugars search for the glycemic index (I think that's the spelling) on google. The higher the score of the food the faster the sugar is released. Also when looking at food labels the sugar conetent isn't the best guide, look at the ingredients for added sugar or glucose.

Just like said above, unburned calories are what turns in to fat. If you don't burn them off, the body will gladly hang on to them and store them as fat.
A lot of high sugar foods tend to be high in calories. So in a sense, if you eat a lot of sugary foods you may gain more fat.
