Suddenly stopped losing weight, help please!

Hi all,

Starting in about mid-May, I've stuck to a routine of weight lifting three days a week, an hour of cardio three days a week, and rest on the last day. I saw steady progress until just recently, and I can't figure out why. I still see gains in my weight lifting, so I'm not sure if I need to change my lifting routine.

I'm 5 feet tall and 96 pounds, and even though that was my "ideal" weight, I still have stubborn fat on my lower abs and thighs that I'm trying to lose. Calorie-wise, my intake is about 1,030. Also, I stopped lifting weights from August 14th to August 30th, because I had no access to a gym, so I replaced it with cardio. I'm not sure if that affected anything or not.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

might I ask why you feel you need to be smaller than 96 pounds? Male or female, that is underweight.

I actually don't really want to be any less than that. Though, since I'm 5 feet tall, I thought I was still in a normal weight range. But even though I'm 96 lbs, I still have a bit of a gut and flabby thighs, which is why I'm still trying to lose.

It's hard for me to say simply cause you are so boarderline underweight that I'm not sure any suggestion might do more harm than good. Sorry, I don't know personally what to suggest in this.

You may want to try gaining some muscle first, and then trying to lose flab and get down to a more 'normal' weight. Since you're already doing strength training (although maybe you could improve on it?) you probably need to eat more calories to actually gain muscle. You may just be making primarily neurological strength gains rather than actual hypertrophy (i.e. getting bigger muscles)

You may also want to check out Lyle McDonald's "Stubborn Fat Solution." I haven't read it myself because I still have plenty of non-stubborn fat left, but I know some people who've found it helpful.
