Sucking it up.

Here goes nothing. First off, I'm not an adult. I'm a female, and I currently stand 5'9" tall, and my weight is approximately 270-ish. I'd like to lose at least 120 pounds. Not quickly. I mean in the healthy way. I figure if I give it a good year or two I can lose that much. Maybe less.
I really need some advice on foods to eat, and workouts that kill fat and build stronger muscles, but don't bulk you up. I can't do fancy diets, and my mother will not let me do a no-carb diet or anything of the sort. Just need healthy meals that are cheap.

So I've been talking to this one woman, and she's given me really good advice so far. For meals, she suggested something like this:

  • Chicken (baked)
  • Black beans (no butter added -- for proteins)
  • Brown Rice (healthy carb?)

I need extremely affordable meals that I can eat more than once, since my household is income based, and we get less than 2,000 a month. I also need stuff that lasts for a month, because we only go shopping twice a month.

As for workouts, I'm going to start walking every day and gradually increase the length of my walks so that I'm walking one or two miles outside of town. I need extreme workouts, even if they go over an hour in length. I did P90x and plyometrics and weight lifting all year long, but have now lost my ability to do that because I don't have any weights or cd's. Please help me. I want brutal honesty, too. I really need the support as well.

You do not need special CDs or for that matter weights to work out.

If you have done it - you know the moves and should be able to do much the same without the CD... It doesnt matter if it is not identical - the main thing is that you move and push yourself - that you work hard.

Play some loud music and exercise along with the music.

We are all different shapes and sizes and have different exercise abilities - but we know when we are working hard - so simply jump or step at the level that is right for you...

Look for exercise inspiration on you tube... I know for a fact that literally thousands of zumba routines have been loaded onto you tube by different instructors and enthusiasts... I am a zumba addict - often going to 5 zumba classes as part of my exercise mix in the week... If I feel like a bit of extra zumba before my next class I play some off you tube....

As for weights - you could experiment with making some by filling some old water bottles of various sizes... Anything heavy can be a weight...
There are exercises where you use the weight of your body as the weight - eg push ups...

The good things in life are either fattening or immoral. The best things in life are too simple. Like sunshine. If you are thinking about cutting costs, try veggies. Use egg white and milk as your animal protein source. Carb restriction won't help you much. Ultimately it's the amount of calories burned that matters, not the type of food.

I agree, YouTube could really help with the amount of exercise videos uploaded.
As for cheap healthy food options, salad and veggies but if you only go shopping twice a month this may be hard. How come you go shopping so little, so you live far from a supermarket? Could delivery be an option? Even better growing your own veggie garden.
Nothing tastes better than the fresh garden potatoes or strawberries coming out of my in laws garden at their summer home.the extra plus to this is you know that no chemicals etc have been used on them :)
