Stupid Hurricane

Well, great.

Hurricane Dean is still way the heck out there, and they won't have a clue as to where it might hit until Mon or so. They're saying anywhere from Brownsville to Port Arthur is possible - basically the entire Texas coast.

Soooo, we put gas in the vehicles, went and stocked up on diapers, toiletries, etc etc, are gathering important papers, keepsakes, and all that, and basically prepping to pack it up and head for the hills. When you have two kids to deal with in this situation, you don't wait until the last minute, ya know?

Who the heck knows. This thing may peter out when it hits the islands, or may go somewhere else entirely. We've always had a sort of "it won't hit us, they never do" attitude around here - that is until Rita slammed the hell out of us. Oh, I guess every great now and then they might actually hit us after all. :11doh:

Hey, Silent - what are y'all doing down there?

It's headed into the gulf!!!! really.... oh my. God speed, grace, and the spirit of humanity to all of us.

oh my!!!

I never watch T.V. but I just saw that bad boy!

i believe. i moved from Cali to Florida and got hit by one and grazed by another our first year here.

I just saw a while ago that the latest projections are showing down toward South Texas. Of course, they can't say too much until it's done down in the islands and heads toward the Gulf. I never even noticed y'all are in Florida. Man, it seems like y'all get slammed every year.

My son said he will blow the 'hoppicane" away, so no need to worry. LOL

Silent, ain't around anymore.

But, were not doing anything special. Will likely go over to my sisters house before it hits, stay there there till its over is all... Hope everything goes well for you over there, deschain.:)

What's up with that? Why "ain't" you around?

Anyway, today they are "projecting" that it'll be further south - into Mexico. So, it's looking like it may not get too near me, but seems like it still might be pretty close to you. You are one brave dude to just go hang at your sister's. :eek2:
I knew a few people who stayed here during Rita----every one of them said they won't ever do that again. LOL

i stayed home for Charlie, and had myself, my honey, and three kids in a bathroom scared tp death for about 9 hours waiting for the roof to come completely off. 2 windows got broke (they were boarded- one had a metal thingy come thru it) the garage door blew off, and it is a roll up, the back fence was gone, and a tree - from somewhere- was in our front lawn.

RUN FOR THE HILLS if you are in the 2 day cone-- personal opinion, but i;m right!

and SILENT!! why aint you around? you had some solid posts, and good common sense that most of us lack!

Good luck and be safe...hold on to your wallets, got a feeling this is another excellent reason for gas prices to go even higher:mad:

Yeah, when you think of all those rigs in the Gulf, plus all the refineries along the Gulf, it's pretty easy to see why shutting all that down has an effect on gas prices.

After Rita, my husband had to actually live in the refinery to help get it up and running and repair all the damage (literally, they lived in RV's). We weren't allowed back into our towns yet, but they had the refinery workers come and live in RVs to start getting the refineries up and running as fast as possible.

That's a whole lot of little dots out there.

I've seen a TrevorM screenname around. wonder who that could be ;)

anyway, i pray for everyone on the coast. i have friends down there close.

Probably a minor too that Trevor M.

(sorry Trevor, I couldn't help that one :)-- You know I hold you in the highest regard :p. I'm just teasing ya!)

Are we not able to change our username and still keep our post count, rep, etc? Or did you do that on purpose for some reason?

Now I'm all confused. Thanks a lot.

:)

I just created a new account. Tony recently told me Alcadboy would have likely changed my name for me had I asked because I'm so special. Although, I just figured make a new account all together for a variety of reasons.

Somthing interesting, While tony was telling me how special I was and how he could get the Admin to do this for me. He gave me his phone number! lmao

ooooooh, Trevor and Tony sittin' in a tree, k-i-s-s-i-n-g. First comes love, then comes marriage.....

then comes Tony's wife kickin' both your asses.

Haha. If I had known he was going to tell the forum world, I would have reconsidered.
