Stretching??

Is there a good post on here about stretching? If there is, please direct me to it...

I am totally confused about the subject. Many resources say it doesn't do anything. Many say to stretch before exercise and many say to stretch after exercise.

Whats up with all the different kinds of streching as well? There is static, dynamic, ballistic, etc.

I am too lazy to do the research, but if there is a lack of replies, I'll do the research myself and reply to my own thread :D

Stretching is good before exercise, Read it all there.

I'm honestly not 100% sure what dynamic stretching is. Dynamic obviously means moving, but I dont get how a person can stretch while continuing to move. Arm circles? I don't know. Heck, maybe I do them without being aware of it.

Static stretching, in my opinion, should only be done after warming up or working out. If I dont stretch after lifting, I feel much more sore the next day/ hours later. I think stretching is beneficial, even if it's just done minimally after exercising.

If you do some research, definitely post what you find here. I'd be interested in learning more, especially if someone will do the research for me ;).

ETA- thanks for the link above celestial. I'll take a look there and learn something new, too :).

When I went back to lose my last few lbs a month ago I did HIIT for the first time in a long time, I could barely walk from the day after for a week, which actually went away as soon as I stretched my legs. So personally I always warm up, cooldown and stretch right now. ;)

An example of dynamic stretching would be slow, controlled leg swings, arm swings, or torso wrists. Also, I would say going from upper position, to crouching is stretching.
