stress and bloating!

Why does this happen? I hate it! When I get stressed, I get the worst gas and feel like my tummy is a big balloon. Even hard, vigorous exercise doesn't get rid of it completely. Does anyone have any supplement or diet suggestions to help with this kind of thing?
 
find a way to releive the stress. it sounds like you're producing/releasign too much cortisol.


how's the diet? 25g of fiber a day? tons of veggies and fruit?
 
I am pretty good about fiber since I have a bowl of All Bran each morning. For fruits and vegetables, my favorites are sweet potatoes, apples, papaya, mixed frozen veggies (sauteed of course:)) on top of salads, and sometimes cantaloupe. Although, this past week I have been eating a lot of processed foods - protein bars, veggie burgers - in the interest of time.

Stress relief is a good suggestion...I really thought my hard exercise would help, but maybe it's time to look into yoga, something more soothing. Unfortunately the best stress reliever (my fiance) is in another state. ;) I go to grad school far away, hence the stress.
