Still no change...

Hello again,

Since the last post I have been working hard and still havnt seen a change... I am currently doing an hour on the elliptical machine 5 days a week and I am eating healthy too. Everything else is getting smaller, but I cant figure out why my butt is getting bigger (my clothes are still tight in that area)... is it the elliptical machine building muscle? Should I drop the resistance on it? Does anyone have any suggestions? Once again: 20 yrs. old, 120 LBS, 5'6

Your probably building a bit of muscle. The first place you gain weight is the last place you lose it. Don't give up.
 
Does the Elliptical Promote Larger Hips?

I like to vary my cardio to keep things interesting and recently purchased an elliptical. An associate in the fitness industry claims that the elliptical builds mass on pear/spoon shapes, particularly around the hips. I want to maintain a streamline appearance. Is there any truth to this?
 
I don't think the fitness industry can make that type of claim and be able to back it up. Cardio doesn't build an appreciable amount of mass, weight training does. It may give you the streamlined look you want by burning off excess fat, but everyone is different. Elliptical shouldn't build an appreciable amount of mass though.
