Stiff leg deadlifts

Hi, I would like to know when doing a stiff leg deadlift, on the way up with the weight do you have your knees locked or slightly bent? I have seen videos on youtube and none of the guys show the knee position or even explains it. Thanks.
 
The whole movement should be done with knees bent just off lock, but totally stiff.
This is not easy, and getting your legs to remain stiff under heavy load is nigh on impossible, but that is the aim.
Locked out is plain dangerous, the weight will force the joint into negative bend. I know a number who have done it, all have knee issues.
