Stiff Feet and Ankles in the morning???

I run about 5 miles a day, but every morning when I wake up my fee tnad ankles are stiff and painful.

Once I get moving they loosen up and do not bother me all day, but WTH is up with that?

I have good running shoes and replace them often (about every 400 miles).

I do not have this problem with any other body parts/joints/muscles regardless of what I work out, just my feet/ankles and every morning.

has anyone esle had anything like this happen?
 
I sometimes get stiff ankles and sore feet.
But before I run I always rotate my ankles and put my feet in a foot massage. Seems to help.

Try lessening your load to see if it still hurts.
 
i've never had this problem, but i run at night and follow with a relaxing hot shower. maybe the heat would help avoid that problem for you. it's worth a try:)
