Steve Goggins Squats 1102 Pounds

Jesus christ thats over half a ton.

dang. Dident look like he locked out completley to me. He wasnt standing up straight when he racked the bar. But then again, im no powerlifter judge.

Yeah, at those weights it doesn't always looked correct. I mean, watch the bench video of that guy who does over 1000lbs. It's like a little jerk.

Thats because once a lifter can lift over a certain weight, the form changes. Some to protect the body better, some to put the body in a better position.

Also under huge weights, form can and will break down.

yeah, though belts were probobly allowed in that competition. But he wasnt lifting RAW. i doubt anyone can lift 1000lbs + with no gear.

It doesn't count because he was wearing a belt.

Yea. I am sure your 300lb squat would be close to 1000lb if you were wearing a belt.

Try to do anything with 1000lbs. Belt or not, you have to be strong.

I guess I do not understand what people have against belts, and other gear.

It helps to stabilize the body and decrease the potential for injury.

If you were lifting weights that big you would wear what you needed to protect you body as well.

Whenever I hear about people bashing lifts where people have belts or some sort of gear, it just sounds like excuses for not being that strong themselves.

This is called the ad hominem fallacy.

Anyone would need a belt to lift my wallet!

Has he got the current world record? Paul Anderson I mean?

Nope, he was around before powerlifting had federations and governing bodies that kept records.

The history of strength and strongman is much more entertaining than the present.

And darn, that guy was/is strong. Is he still around squatting that much?

He died in 1994. He founded a youth home in the 60's. He had a character that all lifters should model themselves after.

His legs really don't look right though. Freaky. Bet he can't run.
