Starting my training

Hi everyone,
I'm new to the running thread but older to this site as a whole. I have taken the past 10 weeks to clean up my diet and adopt a strength training program. I actually packed on quite a bit of muscle and most people I know say something now when they see me. not like "oh wow you look good" more like "JEEZ look at those guns" or "watch out dude your wife can beat you up!" which i dont really like.

I am a swimmer at heart but a runner in my second life ;) I have had a great time with little races and most recently a half marathon in March which was my first.

I have decided to train again for a half that is in Oct. Its about 11 weeks away and I want to do very well. Now that I have a time for it, I have a goal to exceed it.

What I want to know is for those of you who strength train, what is your routine? I have been reading "runners world" on training for a half and my plan is to not train harder, but train smarter. Right now when I run I feel like my muscle totally weighs me down. I don't want to get rid of it per se, but I do want to be lighter. I'd love to know the routines of those of you who train for events and if they include weights.
