I'm 26, I have PCOS or poly cystic ovarian syndrome.. and now that the rest of my life has come together, it's time to start battling the never ending struggle with my weight. I do not have kids, but I do have two larger dogs. I am the largest I've ever been somewhere between 330-350 lbs and a size 26/28 in pants.
I am currently just keeping track of calorie intake, and water, and walking. I do have a gym membership, but I feel very uncomfortable there, so I don't go. I have started walking on my lunch breaks and try to include an extra walk on days I get off work before dark. I walk about two miles on mon/wed/fri and on tue/thurs i walk a single mile. I also go out on the weekends and walk, but don't keep track of distance. I'm doing about a 20 min mile depending on how I feel for the day.
I've looked at a few different equations for what my calorie intake should be to lose weight and the strange thing is that I'm not anywhere near close to eating my recommended daily intake. My daily diet consists of MAYBE 1300-1700 calories a day, and all of the equations say I should be eating at least 2500.. I'm wondering if this is actually going to hinder any weight loss I attempt. If I need to actually increase my calories to start? Advice is needed..
I am currently eating my normal diet, as of June I'm going to switch over to fresh produce and leaner cuts of meat as well as smaller portions. I'm hoping that by eating fresh, no matter my calorie intake I will be healthier which should promote weight loss. At least, this makes sense in my head..
I know to lose weight I have to burn more calories than I take in, that's the point, but I'm concerned that my low calorie intake will make things harder than they have to be?
I don't find changing my diet to be hard, It's not all about calories and weighing myself daily.. I actually almost never weigh myself (might be why I need help..) but this journey for me is about feeling better and becoming healthier, I think weight loss goes hand in hand with that.
Any advice or tips? My plan is to start eating fresh or frozen produce and smaller cuts of lean meat. I know having a better rounded diet is better than cutting out things. I have decent general knowledge on things, but it's the putting the plan into action that i'm not so good at.
