Sport starting a new diet

Sport Fitness
hey guys. i recently started a new diet in hopes of cutting some fat off my body and i was wondering if i was going in the right direction. i have a 3 day lifting schedule and cardio on every 4th day. currently my diet consists of:

meal 1
oatmeal, scoop of protein
or
3egg white 1 whole egg omelette with some deli meat (turkey or ham), smart balance buttered toast and a fruit

meal 2
tuna sandwich with olive oil mayo on whole wheat bread, low fat yogurt, fruit

meal 3
protein shake with peanut butter and banana

meal 4
peanut butter sandwich, lowfat string cheese, low fat yogurt

meal 5
chicken breast, brown rice, veggie.

sorry for the long post but hopefully you guys can steer me in the right direction. thanks in advance!

food choices are fine...quanities: who knows cuz you didn't post that info.

and you'll benefit from more cardio during this phase. You're not eating enough food to pack on muscle, so working out 3 days back to back will keep you strong, but won't pack on any muscle. I have to question if you have a proper routine for your goal of fat loss.

cardio can burn stored fat. weight lifting cannot.

i've heard numerous times around this board that as long as i maintain a calorie deficit i will lose weight. i am 5'7 and about 166 pounds and eat roughly 1800 cals per day. im not trying to be big and bulky so i figured if i lifted weights while doing this diet, i would maintain, if not, increase my strength without increasing the size of my muscles too much.
