Start of a journey

Hi everyone, this is an unusual thing for me to do (talking about my weight) but here goes. I am 25 years old and weight 162kgs that is 357 pounds. I have been obese from a young age. Like with a lot of weight loss stories a silver lining moment was had. I have my brothers wedding in August to which he has asked me to be best man. Last weekend it was time to go suit shopping. We couldn't get a suit my size, it was heartbreaking. I have made it my goal to lose as much weight as possible for the wedding in August. I started a new diet and commenced going to the gym. Really excited for the journey ahead, but know what a hard road it is going to be. Any tips and helpful advice would be so unbelievably appreciated. Thank you.

I hit close to your weight about 15 years ago...kept telling myself that I would do something but didn't or failed everything I tried. Last July I decided enough was enough and that I needed to change or I never would. I gave up diet coke with was probably the only liquid I ever consumed - this was so hard, harder than anything else! It took about two weeks for the cravings and headaches to stop - water water water is the answer. I also joined a diet bet which helped me stay accountable... there is an app or a website and the bets can be really cheap - like 25 a bet. The best thing I did was start a health program called Thrive. I've done a lot of "programs" - this one just works for me. I'm down 52 pounds since July and have 48 more to go before June 31st to meet my 100 pound goal. You can message me if you would like any info on it or just want some encouragement. Have a great day.

Hi Matt - Keep reminding yourself that small bits of progress everyday really add up! Focus on small, consistent improvements, and never give up!
