Hi, my name is Amber, and I am new to this site. I'm 18 and currently enrolled in college. I have realized I have made a huge mistake by rooming with my best friend of 6 yrs. She is the world's skinniest roomate and has lately been making disparaging hurtful comments about my weight. It has been depressing me lately. Fortunately though I stumbled onto this website, and already I feel motivated. I can't wait to start talking to you guys and making friends with those of you who can relate to me. I feel like I just need support from somewhere since I can't get it from my best friend. This is my first day and its 2 am so I don't have any updates. My plan is to stay on a 1200-1300 calorie diet and exercise at least 4 days a week. Well I don't wanna bore you. I look forward to meeting you guys.

Hi Amber! Welcome to the forum! I know that you will find the support and encouragement you are looking for here. Everyone here is truly wonderful. I am following a similiar weight loss plan as you. I am staying between 1200 - 1500 calories and walking on my treadmill 6 days a week. I started back on January 1 st (I know- how predictable is that??) and I have had fairly good luck with this plan. I hope you will too.

Look forward to reading your journal and getting to know more about you. Feel free to jump into other journals and topics on here. :)

Glad to have you here Amber. I have a friend that makes remarks to me about my weight loss. I know where you are coming from except she is heavier than I am and also is telling me to stop obsessing. oh well. I hope you start a journal so we can get to know you better. :) Everyone here is great and ver supportive. I started over a year ago and still love it!:D

Well....

I guess you guys probably think I wimped out, gave up, and threw in the towel :D. But your wrong, I've been keeping all my calorie tallies etc. in a journal and am soooo estatic I bought a scale today (have need one for a while but was to scared to see the number) and was soo exicted after just 3 days keeping up my eating and exercising I have already lost 2lbs. It makes me sooo happy now I know these aching leg and butt muscles are fo a reason.
Every night after counting calories all day at around 8:40 pm I jump on my exercise bike for about 50 minutes (it's not one of the high tech ones so i have no idea how many calories i'm burning), then I do 3 sets of 20 crunches (resting for a minute in between :( cause it wipes me out each time) then I put in my Tony Little Buttocks, thighs, and calves exercise tape and go to town. Right now I'm only a beginner on the tape, but I hope to be in intermediate by next week. I've been so happy these last couple of days i feel more productive instead of vegging in front of the tv I turn it off all together and instead turn on the radio and clean up the kitchen (a task I usually hate doing). I've taken over the cooking and grocery shopping and have found it quite easy to turn my nose up at the bacon calling out from the freezer cooler and instead picked up celery, asparagus, and other veggies (as I haven't been eating enough). I can't wait to go through my routine in an hour. Well wish me luck! I walked yesterday as it was nice but I haven't made that a daily habit yet. I plan to over the next couple of days. I am probably going through an emotional high right now I fully expect there to be lows, but I know that if i do have a low point i'll be able to come chat it up with you guys to get me over it. Thanks so much this place is great!

I understand

Hey Squish, i'm in college too, currently a sophomore and I know how you feel. Though people have resorted to making fun of me just being around these thin girls who are a constant reminder of how big im am is hard. But we definitely can both reach our goals together! Keep on trucking girl!

Update

:D Scratch what I said yesterday I did walk lol for much longer than I intended too, ended up walking for about and hour and a half. So I've been pretty lax about updating so I'm going to put up my workout schedule. *sigh* I've never been good at keeping diaries.

Day 1: March 9th 2003
30 ab crunches in the morning
100ab cruches at night
35 minutes on the bike
Tony Little Hips, thighs, and buttocks (really good I reccommend(sp?) any of his work outs.)
Total work out time: 1hour and 35mins

Day 2: March 10th 2003
100 ab crunches
35 minute walk
35 minutes on the bike
Tony Little Tape
Total workout 1 hour and 35 minutes plus 35 minute walk

Day 3: March 11th 2003
1 hour and 30min walk
Tony Little tape
20 minutes on bike (after walk had no strength to do full 35min)
100ab crunches
Total workout: 2.5 hours

There ya go! Pooh. I go back to the dorm today as this week has been my spring break (rather early if you ask me). So I won't have the bike, and I'm rather weary to walk around campus by myself because we had a girl get raped not even a month ago. Plus now I will be in close quarters once again with my room mate who has been raggin on me about my weight. BUT! I will persevere. I plan to suck it up and go to the gym at school (which I have recently avoided b/c I don't like to work out in front of others) and walk on the tread mill and maybe get on one of those stair steppers since i don't have my bike. Then I can go back to my room and do the Tony little Tapes. I got another 1. This is the ab excerise workout! These things are awesome they don't tire you out but let you gradually work your way up. You start out as begginners doing a smaller time limit then slowly work up to doing more time going through intermediate and then to advanced.
Well wish me luck I'll update tonight to let you know how it all went.

WOW!!!!!!!! Great job on loosing them two pounds:D Glad to here that you are diong things you use to not do.Keep up the exceelent progress. Have a good one

2 lbs is awesome!! :) I love it when the scale moves, lol... keep upthe awesome work, and the school gym should be a great place to work out :)

Hey Guys

I know I've been silent all week, but some things kind of went wrong. First after working out all weekend I was really sore. Guess I kinda need to pace myself lol. So I did some light walking monday, but otherwise kinda rested. It helped alot. Then Tuesday we had a huge ass thunder storms all night along with the freakin tornadoe siren going off on the college campus didn't really allow for me to get over to the rec center. Tonight I've been doing my tony little tapes, and am reved up. I left my scale at home so that I won't be tempted to check it EVERY time I pass it. So the first weigh in is saturday morning *cross your fingers for me*

Good luck with your workout....soon before you know it you will look better than your best friend and you can dish her some of her medicine :) :) haha....good job on your progress!

Thanks

Lol thanks Sarah. Though it sounds really horrible I have played out many a scene like that in my mind. Meh I'm not really confrontational, but I finally got fed up with her remarks and told her that her remarks tend to make me feel bad about myself. It helped she hasn't really said anything lately, but this has happened before. She says mean things, and I call her on them she'll stop for a while but it doesn't last very long. But maybe this time will be different I am not going to expect the negative.:D

*Sigh*

I haven't been on in ten days and thats basically cause my last weigh in didn't even move the scale I was kinda down so I've stepped up my routine and am hoping for better results this saturday upcoming. gonna go do tony little tape so wish me luck.

Ready.....

Ok. Was kinda depressed when I wrote that message earlier so now that I am feeling better I will tell you guys that while I did not lose any weight at my last weigh in I am more than ready to lose some this week! So I did my work out today at the campus gym. Was on the treadmill for an hour then came back and did ab crunches. After a heart felt disscussion me and my room mate decided it was better that we remain friends instead of roomies so she is moving out this Sunday. That said I am instilling a short term goal! I am going to the Florida Keys in 2 months. My goal is to lose at least 10 lbs by then! I know I can do it with you guys supporting me! Ready, set, and GO!
