Had to share this. This little girl makes me so, so happy.

"Now I have two animals..A dog..And a SQUEEIIWEERRELL!"

Hmm...I think if the choice is between a kid reacting like this, and a kid going into hysterics about the poor dead squirrel, I think I prefer this one as well.

Glad to see that nobdoy had a go at the dog, or blamed the dog, since it didn't really do anything wrong.

Not entirely sure if I agree with her playing with a dead animal like that, but then again, the parents seemed to have a healthy attitude towards the whole incident, and I'm guessing they might have explained things to her a little more afterwards.

And hopefully they buried the poor squiwwwerel somewhere nice. :)

Dammit..,,, Where's William Shattner when you need him... someones' GOT to tell him.....

The girl's reaction is cute and innocent, but what HORRIBLE parents.

"Oh, our little girl is holding and squeezing a dead animal? What's that, you say? Tell her to drop it and immediately give her a bath? What? Why? Iz gettin' mah vidya camera!!! We's gon' be gettin' on that there Funniest Videos program, we is, we is, HYUCK, HYUCK, HYUCK!!!"

They told her she had to put it down and that she couldn't pet it tomorrow but didn't stop her exploring the animal. If they were like "EWWW, put it down. You'll get a disease and DIEEEE" (what my parents did when I picked up a dead bird) that would have done her much more damage then her understanding death at a young age. It's not like it was a rotting corpse, the squuuuuirrrel was probably still warm and they did say at the end of the video "lets get you in the bath".

It's creepy the way she plays with it but I think she's just being cute and that she's not doing anything unhealthy. Animals like squirrels don't carry any nasty things that a bath wont sort out.

Either way, it's cute as hell.

The parents wouldn't have had to overreact to get their kid to drop the dead animal. You just walk over, grab it out of their hands, take them inside and clean them up. And, you tell them touching dead animals is dirty and that they shouldn't do it. It's just like dog poop. You don't have to act as if they're going to die just because they picked up a pile of dog shit, but you certainly don't sit there and let them do it.

And, squirrels (along with any wild animal) most certainly have the capability of carrying some pretty nasty things that normally aren't found on or in humans...which is why touching dead animals, whether it's "fresh" or not, is disgusting.

Cute? Yes. But, if it were my kid, I certainly wouldn't be video taping it. I would be teaching them that they shouldn't be picking up dead animals (and cleaning them as well).

I've never even seen a picture of a prairie dog..*googles* Oh, they're like big fat chipmunks! I love them! You had one as a pet? That is awesome.
I was like that as a kid..My cat used to bring dead/dying birds in and I'd run around with them and make homes for them in cardboard boxes and stuff. And then have a little funeral. My parents thought it was weird but I always had a decent wash afterwards. When I was a kid I used to play in muddy puddles and sandpits and communal pools and shit, picking up a dead squirrel can't be mucccch worse for you. :p

Yup, I had one. I saw one at the store as a teenager and HAD to have one. I had him for ten years before he passed away. He's still my all time favorite pet I've had. He was an awesome cuddler. :) I've always had different pets, a prairie dog, lizards, frogs, fire bellied newts (which I still have and are about 15 years old). Anywho.....the girl will be fine....lol.

Found the video quite heart warming (ignoring all the weirdness about playing with dead sqeeewrels and parents not teaching kids properly, etc). Made me smile
