Squats - balanced exercise?

My question is pretty much in the title. The only leg exercises I have been doing for the last 4 months are deep squats and I was wondering if I am neglecting my hamstrings to the point of injury? Thx in advance.

Squats are excellent, but you should throw in some Romanian Deadlifts to balance things out.

You will find that your strength will go up on squats after doing these additional exersizes to strengthen your hamstrings. I like to see that you are doing squats though, many these days seem to only care what they can do do make their upperbody larger.

well i think that you should not do dead lifts becaus that puts a ton of stress on your lower back as so as goodmornings and the best thing for you legs is doing deep squats and box squats hex bar and front squats and you can also jump to make your legs stronger and dont worry about injury because the stronger your legs are the more lesser chance you have of injury so try them and tell me what you think and do reps of 10-8-6-4-4 that is what i do and i love it and i have a ton of leg strengh and i have never had problems with straing my muscles in my legs, so try those and tell me what you think and if you have any questions let me know and ill try to answer them

Uuuh, okay. I'll be sure to screen the exercises I recommend through you before I post them.

Did you ever happen to watch the Graduate? There was a classic scene when Dustin Hoffman is at his graduation party that reminds me of what I am about to say.

"DC, I have only ONE word for you.... Puncuation!"

Those in my generation may get that and laugh... Otherwise, I guess you just had to be there.

BTW, deadlifts are THE foundation of any successful workout program. So are goodmornings and RDL's. You have some reading to do!

deadlifts are very good, but with both deadlifts and good mornings, form is critical.

I would strongly urge anyone who has never done them before to seek proefessional guidance on their correct application first.

I have been seriously injured for the last 9 months due to an incorrect deadlift so watch out!

Years ago I started having lower back problems. The learned medical establishment told me to never do deadlifts. So like a good little boy I did no deadlifts for 10 years. My back got worse every year. So, realizing that not doing deadlifts was not helping I started doing stiff-legged or Romainian deadlifts, except I always did them on a platform or off the end of a bench so the weights don't hit the floor at the bottom. I started with the empty bar and added 5 pounds a month or so. Now fast forward another 10 years. I do 135, 225, 315 for 15 reps and 405 for 8 reps once a week or so and my back never felt better. On some other day of the week I do good mornings and/or hyperextensions 2-4 sets of 15 reps. I have found the more weight I use in the gym the less pain I have the rest of the time. I also do a lot of stretching, which I also believe helps a lot. Just one old man's anecdotal evidence for the benefit of deadlifts!

Thx for all of the responses, everyone.

My hamstrings are sore and I couldn't be happier. :D
I bought a barbell today and did 20lbs stiff-leg deadlifts at about 10/10/10. Initially I was disappointed following the reps because I couldn't feel the workout and couldn't truly determine if I was lifting w/ the right muscles even though in the mirror my form seemed correct (I thought about doing it w/ more weight but fortunately my patience got the better of me). Eight hours later and my worries are gone.

After I am comfortable w/ SDLs I am going to give Good Mornings a shot. Thx again everyone.

Too funny...I ran out of breath trying to read all that in one sentence.
