Soy Protein

Hey guys,
I have a question and would like to know what u guys think. I am a vegiterian so i went to this store to buy some protein and the guy said that whey protein is the best to build muscle. The only protein which i can take is the soy protein which is made from plants. The guy said soy protein wont help me at all. What do u guys think? Is soy Protein a good source of protein?

Thanks a lot for the help!!

well i am not a vegiterian but the catch for me is that the source of the animal from which it comes must be known. In other ways i cannot have have things which come from certain animals and parts of animals like pork etc. I found out that animal renent is used in whey protein. So question here. Does whey only comes from milk and thus milk has to come from a cow or a goat right?

Thanks a lot for the input!!!

I'm not sure if all whey protein has rennet in it. Would rennet be listed on the ingredients list? If it would be, then you could find a whey protein without it.

hmm... i think that the rennent would not be listed in the ingredients list because i didnot find anything like that but i heard that rennent is do used in them. So i was wondering is Whey made from only milk or a mixture of rennent too.

Thanks a lot!!

Well I think you could find a whey protein without any enzymes in it.. But here's a piece of an article that might make you feel better...

Production of natural calf rennet
Natural rennet is produced in the inner mucosa of the fourth stomach of young ruminants. No animal is ever killed for the stomach. The demand for veal determines the availability of stomachs.

Thanks a lot mreik!!. it definatly feel better now LOL. So where do u think i can find such a whey protein? Also do u guys think that soy protein will do the job if i take it as a supplement? I wanna on some muscle and cut fat at the same time. I definatly am short of the required protein.

Thanks a lot guys!!!

soy protein isn't as good as whey. period.

and you should know by now its damned near impossible to gain muscle and shed fat at decent rates, simultaneously.
