Sport Soy good or bad

Sport Fitness
How does everyone feel about soy? Some people talk about it like it was the greatest protein in the world. Others detest it saying it will turn men into women because of the estrogen. I never see anything about it here. What is the general consensus?

I think it's poison. My body is 100% soy intolerant.

We're already over-estrogenized from the hormones in meat and water. Why add phyto-estrogens to the mix?

I hate soy. If I eat soy based products I get lazy and feel like ****. I also get gas.

Just giving my personal experience on it.

hahaha, yep, mine too. If i eat the soy its nooooot a good day. Its almost the equivalent of eating dish soap lol

What are phyto-estrogens?

I drink soy milk sometimes, I don't really think about it much :S.
They say all kinds of things, like it helps people with heart problems or something... but most people I know don't drink it because they don't like the taste. I drink it because it's usually in my fridge and it doesn't kill me.

I don’t eat soy for the simple reason that everything made from soy seems to taste like ****. Because of that I don’t need to put any further thought in to whether I should eat it or not

Unless soybean products constitute a high percentage of your diet, the general good or bad effects (some of which are rather speculative) probably will not be that significant (barring individual allergies like some people posting above seem to have).

If its there I eat it/drink it. As the above said, if it isn't a main staple in your diet you aren't going to suddenly grow manboobs from drinking some soy milk. It is good quality protein, so better to have soy than other things.
