Soups as snacks or meal replacement

I was just wondering whether soups are good as meal replacements or low-cal snack? I know those freshly made soups contain all the nutrients you need.

But, what I am also referring to are those (Campbell) powdered soups which are only 63kcal per pack. Sometimes when I feel a hunger pang coming before mealtime, I'd mix up a pack and it helps to sustain me for a bit longer.

hmm not really.

The packaged soups are a lot of salt.

Soup can be good if you make it yourself but there can be plenty of hidden calories in soups that you didn't create.

I'm confused as why you look at soup as a "meal replacement". I think too many people overthink the whole "meal replacement" thing. Soup is soup. It can be a meal, it can be a snack. It's just food.

If you're eating packaged soup, then you need to look at the ingredients and make sure that it's not extremely high in sodium, as many packaged foods are.

Otherwise, it's just FOOD. How can you use food as a "meal replacement"???

I'd never think to substitute a meal or a snack with a packet soup or even tin of soup- I don't think I'd find it satisfying. Not enoug protein, high in sugars and also in salt. I'd feel full for all of 30 maybe even 40 mins but then I'd be right back to where I started and have wasted about 200kcals if it were a meal or 65kcals if it were a snack, and I'd likely be pretty hungry for a while.

I'd say if you really love the taste of the soup, mix some meat or chick peas or similar into it for something more substantial but the chemicals added into the meal would put me off eating it as I worry too much about what exactly they are doing once they are inside my stomach or have been digested. I know people eat these things and are fine etc but for me its just too much of a concern. I'd rather substitute my meal with something which seems more productive, even if its a small tin of tuna!
