Soreness

Hello All,

I hope I'm posting this in the correct forum. I have a question about soreness. More often than not my muscle soreness lasts for 3 days. Is this normal? My weight workouts aren't particularly intense - 2 sets. Are there any supplements that can help?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Glutamine can help tom but chances are you're not eating/sleeping properly or not drinking enough water.

you should be eating before/after you workout and drinking about 3 bottles/glasses of water during your workouts. if you're not getting enough sleep that could be a contributing factor as well.

That sounds like classic DOMS (delayed onset muscle soreness), which can last up to 3 days. But, you should only get it when starting out or after a layoff or if you are in poor shape. Supplements won't prevent it, but there is some argument that stretching may minimize it, but I don't believe it. I think it is the price we pay to get into shape.

Are you saying Glutamine can help against soreness? I've never seen any data suggesting that Glutamine supplementation helps against anything in healthy people..

How long have you been training? For newbs it's pretty common to have DOMS for a while, you get it less and less as your muscles get used to training

oh i dunno karky all the trainers at the gym suggest it for the new people to help with the soreness.

I take double ibuprofen (280lbs) before bed somtimes and sleep like a baby..helps me

but my DOMS are mostly in the past right now.

and does the gym also sell glutamine by chance?

seriously though L-glutamine only shows benefits in cancer/AIDS patients, and burn victims.

HMB might help...but i'd start with diet, rest, adn recovery stretching first, especially foam rolling.

foam rolling.

you got a link about this? I think there is some foam at the gym (I'd buy it for home on my off days) but would look like a monkey F***ing a football if I tried anything with it.
