Sore Toes

I have two sore toes and have been taping them using a toe separater (from a pedicure kit) and cutting it down to form the toe like an umbrella. This is not helping as the toe nail is bruised and the toe beside it has a blister on it from rubbing.
I have kept with the same shoes and size for years. I have toe room in the shoe and been fitted properly.
The only thing that has changed for me is I am running on a treadmill preparing for a winter half marathon soon.
Can anyone help me with this problem or suggest alternatives.

I can't imagine it. you should go to a doctor, because it's not normal.

Fivefinger shoes

That sucks to run as often as you and have an issue like that. Have you ever heard of fivefinger shoes?? I just read about them on shareitfitness.com and apparently they are great for running and many other activities (rockclimbing, biking, hiking, surfing, etc). They claim to provide the protection and support of a rigid sneaker, yet allow the flexibility and movement of a bare foot. I've never tried them but I've asked around and the people that have tested them out said they loved them. Sounds like they'd give your toes some extra support. Worth a shot.

That sounds like a b@stard of an injury! I hope your doctor has a suggestion (obviously other then "rest and take ibuprofen"!

I'd wonder if you had an old pair of trainers you could mutate- cut holes in so nothing puts any undue pressue on your toes. May look daft but if your wearing bandages on your feet for protection (from things that could fall on them) I'm sure people would ignore it.

The only thing I could think to suggest otherwise would be to pad out your footware and stay clear from impact exercise- so maybe swimming, X-trainer, bike, rower if your in the gym, or similar if your outside working out. Blister plasters are great incase you've never tried them before- but put on two or three over each other and it really does make a difference to pressure on the blisters too.
