Hi Sharon,

I had sore legs somewhat regularly while I was on Cohen's. One thing I noticed was that if I increased my Calcium/magnesium supplementation they were less severe. My thoughts were it might have had something to do with the amount of water I was consuming flushing too many important mineral salts from my body. At these points I was consuming over 4L of water (there is such a thing as water poisoning!) so I dropped back to around 3.5L and took more calcium/magnesium, upped my multi vit/mineral to 3 daily doses over 2 days) and found this vastly improved the situation, and sometimes irradicated it.

I did joke about it being the human growth hormone stimulating my bones to grow again, as it always started in the top part of my thighs. ;) (I haven't measured my height since I joined Cohen's back in July 06 but you never know!)

Losing

I have/get the most terrible leg cramps - not continual pain but cramps! Especially at night and actually wake me up! Also while walking the cramps in my feet occassionally have been quite a problem.

If anyone else having these problems??

Hi all

I actually had the sore legs and cramping prior to joining Cohen's and now the only time these symptoms reoccurr is when I am very tired or have been standing or walking awhile. I take the calcium/magnesium as well 2 twice a day.

While I am here does any one experience weakness I find walking inclines or trying to lift heavy objects quiet debilatating I have put it down to having no muscle tone no upper or lower body strength.
I will start some exercise soon and try and see if this makes a difference especially with weights. But would like to hear back from anyone else experiencing this.

Sounds like you guys need more salt in your diet as well as the magnesium. I seem to remember reading somewhere that lack of salt caused leg cramps, especially night time.
Also my consultant told me to make sure that I wasn't skulling my water in one big hit as apparently it messes with the electrolyte balance in the body -so yes, water poisoning.
I now try to drink my 3 litres or 3.5 over the whole day. I have clients every 15 min so its easy to take 2 or 3 sips of water after every client. It seems to work

Thanks KAtydidnext

I added some more salt to my egg this morning - but have been feeling lousy all day - I think I might have some sort of flu as have had a heavy head all day too...............HUbby made me dinner - what a sweetie.:D

I just went throught this last week where I asked a nurse friend of mine why were my legs hurting so much, especially the upper legs. She said we need 1000 mg of calcium per day. My multi is only 450 mg and I'm not sure how much we really get in this diet. So I bought a 1000 mg Calcium/Magnesium vitamin and within 2 days it's all better.

I do want to check out the water poisoning info. I tend to drink my water in large amounts and drink over 3 l per day.

Thanks for all you input on this, very helpful!

I get "restless legs" if I don't get enough calcium, particularly at night time. I want to keep moving them and shifting around. But not actually sore legs.
And after a couple of weeks of lots of walking and climbing stairs, I would agree with nans that my muscles are someone flabby! I dont think they've gotten any worse -they were bad before as well!
