Something is wrong with me and i dont like it

Lets just say i went from 189 to 151. Right now im 151 and for some reason lately i cant even run for long distances like i was doing when i was heavier. I dont get it, im at 151 im supposed to be fitter and i should feel more comfortable running for longer times.

I tried running at 7.0 mph today for about 20 minutes and i stopped at 8 minutes cause something was telling me i couldnt keep going. 2 weeks back when i was like 156 i could have ran at that speed for 20 minutes. I dont know whats going on, right now im 151 and im finally getting out of the 150-160 zone which i feel great about but whatsup with me.

Oh yeah, i take phys ed in my last period of school and i play basketball, does that take a lot of energy out of me? I come home and i eat some wheat bread with tuna or baked chicken to finish off eating for the day. Or is it cause my body cant go lower then 150 pounds? Im 17 and 5'4.

I weighed 225 at one point, and ran like it was my job for many, many months. I finally got down to about 190, but still felt like complete ****. Not to mention, forget about keeping that weight off. My guess is that you need to start working with weights, you've probably burned off some fat, along with a lot of muscle. You should cut back the running and spend much more time picking up weights. I think you'll be much better off in the end. Keep you diet in check and you'll feel better than you ever have.

I dont consider 150 pounds the normal weight for a boy whos 17 and at the height of 5'4. I wanna get down to 140 pounds and just stay in the range of 140-150 for the rest of my life. I think i can do that cause i stay active and i dont think ill ever stuff mcdonalds in my mouth again unless it was a chicken sandwich or a salad.

I think i do need weights cause i burned off a lot of muscle mass, but im still frustrated because i hate the fat i have on my chest. I have a flat stomach and all but i hate the fat on my chest, its not much but i wanna get rid of it.

Should i try working out at a speed that i can stay at for 30 straight minutes cause 7.0 felt way too fast for me.

I hear ya man, and as long as you don't have muscle, whatever fat is on your body will be obvious. I was the same way, I lost the 35 pounds, but still had fat on my "love handles", chest, stomach...

I've started lifting weights since then, it's a long process, but I am already seeing visible gains in muscle, it's filling in my upper and lower body nicely.

As for cardio, this is what I reccommend, and what I'm trying to get used to doing. I do 2 days a week of HIIT, which you can research here, it's got its own forum. I also do 1 day of steady state cardio, which means you just run at a pace which has your heartrate at about 80% max, for me, that's about 3 miles at 7.5 mph. If you are having trouble with 7.0, knock it down to 6.5, and just go with that. Combined with the regular cardio sessions and weight lifting, you will get better, absolutely.

If you think you can just go down to 140 from running a lot and stay, I don't think you will find success. You need some muscle on your body to maintain that level of fitness.

150 for 5'4" is a little on the thin side, I'm betting you've burned through some muscle to get down to that. As was said earlier, time to hit the weights, maybe even change to a bulking diet for a little while. At least try it and see what happens after a week or two. If you're still at the same point, then look for another reason.

U really think 150 is under for someone who is 5'4? On my scale is says my BMI is 25.8, normal BMI is 24.9 so i gotta keep losing weight.

I wanna hit the weights but i dont want my body to turn too muscular. I just want some cuts but i dont want my muscles to get too big because then im going to look fat and i dont want that. I just wanna get some cuts on my biceps, and forearms.

Wrong. You don't want to lose weight. You want to lose fat. Big difference. You can get down to very low body fat percentage, and still be the same weight. The idea is to lose fat, and gain muscle in its place. 150 pounds is not overweight, you may or may not be over-fat (not a word). 3 days of weight lifting, 2-3 days of HIIT and a balanced diet will mean you are golden even if you never lose a pound of 'weight'. Because you will be losing fat and gaining muscle.

to be healthy and have a low body fat percentage at 5'4 youd have to have a massive amount of muscle...i think normal weight is something like 120-140 if im not mistaken..if you dont have one already go to and you can figure out what weight youre supposed to be with your height..it has a range of weights depending on your muslce mass..do you do any strength training with your running?

Damn so i need to be around 130-145 to be at my healthy weight? Wow, im currently 156 and ive been hovering around 150-160 for a while now but i think i can get out of that range easily, i just gotta eat well cause i run alot on my treadmill.

Right now im still a little bulky and i wanna lose some of the fat in my chest. Cause i dont have a big gut in my stomach. I guess i should do some weight training but i kinda wanna do that after i reach my desired weight which is like 138.

ITs incredible how i have changed though. I cant diet by eating nuts and stuff like that. I just eat fruits, vegetables, tuna, wheatbread, and special k. Thats my diet right there, and a protein bar once in a while. I lose weight rapidly like that.

if i were you id start weight training while youre cutting weight so you can maintain what muscle you do have...and also if you dont eat right it will be harder to maintain your muscle..and youll end up reaching your goal weight being more flabby then "filled out"...its a good idea to eat 5-6 times a day, ALWAYS eat breakfast..plain oatmeal and eggwhites is good if you can stomach the plain oatmeal taste lol...but theres more options then just that...but eat a lean source of protein with every meal like tuna, chicken breast, turkey etc...if youre in school still like me its a little harder to do but it can be done if you plan it out..and if youre eating protein bars from the stores id reccomend you stay away from them because they contain a lot of sugar and preservatives an they are EXPENSIVE...if you have any more questions just ask im not an expert but ill share with you what people have told me from on here

The thing with me is that if i eat 5 to 6 meals a day im gonna gain weight quick because my metabolism is pretty slow. I run a lot but i guess that does'nt help speed it up. I dont feel comfortable just eating stuff like egg whites cause i know ill put on weight quickly by eating that. This diet seems to work for me and i know how i wanna look. I dont wanna have a bulky body, i wanna be slim and cut. Kinda like Bow Wow, if you guys know who that is. I think im doing the right thing cause to look like that i have to lose not only fat but muscle, like ive lost a lot of muscle in my buttocks, thighs, legs, and arms.

Im tryna make a complete turnaround, losing muscle probably isnt healthy but i feel more confident then ever these days cause this is what i truly want. I can get so much out of being slim.

what you dont get is the 5 - 6 meals will speed up your metabolism. we're not saying keep the same sized meals and eat more, your meals should be smaller and fit into your calorie and ratio requirements

And what makes you think egg whites are going to make you gain weight? They're a whole heck of a lot healthier than special k.

Really? Wow i didnt know that. But ive been stuck in 150-160 for a good month and a half now. I havent been able to get out of that range simply cause i feel like if i eat something fattening it wouldnt affect me but it really does end up affecting me.

Im gonna try eating egg whites, but u gotta eat that boiled right cause fried egg whites are no good. Usually during weekdays that im in school i can keep my diet going easily because i know better then to eat school lunch so i just eat a fruit for lunch. But during weekends im off of school and i end up eating and ballooning to 158. Right now im 153 and theirs no way im gonna stay in the 150-160 zone by christmas. I expect to be at 145 by Christmas.

Which would mean 8 pounds in what, 2 weeks? If you did lose it, it would probably be a lot of water weight, you are only supposed to lose 1-2 pounds a week if you're doing it right. You gotta accept the fact that you have to retrain your body into eating right, 5-6 times a day...

if you want to eat egg whites without just eating boiled eggs get some egg beaters or some other type of egg white...they sell them in the milk section of the grocery store and there is absolutely no difference taste wise from eating a whole egg...instead of eating special k for breakfast try eating some oatmeal and scrambled egg beaters and a couple of glasses of water...that usually gets me pretty full and pretty energized for the day at school...then take some protein powder and water with you to drink about 2 hours after your breakfast as a snack..and if you have time at nights or in the morning pack your own lunch for school...then i eat when i get home from school...before i go to the gym then have a protein shake when i come home from gym...i stay energized and feel good it might seem weird eatin a lot at first but so long as your exercising and eating the right foods the pounds will still keep coming off..you just wanna make sure those pounds arent from muscle so dont under eat..
