some questions about obesity

Hi

i currently go regularly you can say to a gym , to lose weight ..

i have some questions about obesity ..

1/ why for some people only the central area gets fat without the remaing of the body ? and for others , fat accumulates every where
in other words ... how obesity is different from central obesity ?

2/ for an overweight person .. can he-she stay not eating any thing for a long time ? if we say that he-she already has fats stored and body restores it when in need .

1) Your body has cells called adipose which are the storage areas for fat. Where you have higher concentrations of these adipose cells is where you'll see the most fat accumulation. It's genetically determined, but women tend to have more adipose in their hips and waist while men tend to have more around their abdomens.

2) Nope, for a couple reasons. Firstly, you need carbohydrates in your body in order to begin utilizing energy from fat in the first place. Secondly, even if you had just the bare minimum of blood sugar to trigger fat metabolism, it's not a fast process, and your body fat would not be able to metabolize fast enough to keep up with your energy demands. As such, you would start metabolizing your body's protein stores as well, which is only found in muscle. (And your heart and lungs tend to be the first to be digested.)

A fat person can survive for quite a while without food. I remember some case study (I think it was from back in the '70s) where they took a morbidly obese man and had him living off nothing but water and multivitamins for over a year. He lost something like 200lb in that time.

However, this is not recommended. To anyone. The risks are high, the body can take a fair amount of damage from it (or even die), and of course there's nothing overly pleasant about the experience. The man in the case study was under medical supervision the whole time, so that if anything went wrong, something could be done about it right away.

so the phrase that the body burns additional fat and gains energy from them should not be misunderstood by the thought of letting the body without food to make it consume energy it stored in form of fats earlier .
and it is no more a solution or advice to prevent overweight people from eating , is it ?
but there are people who fast for long times - some in jails - and we hear that they lost many Kgs during !
an ordinary person can think like , ok let me do the same

Do you tend to hear people coming out of jail being necessarily healthy though? Sometimes, yes, they might be in good shape, but fasting to lose weight is going to be more detrimental than anything. And of course, once you go back to eating the way you used to, you're going to put all the weight back on again.
