Some great info on Marilu Henner's THM

Im in my 20's but I think this is good info for people in their 20's the same way as its good info for people that are in their 120's.Marilu is 45 and in amazing shape.She must be doing something right :).So here are her Total Health Makeover tips that I copied from her site.





THE TEN STEPS OF THM®
1. Eliminate chemicals from the foods you eat. Additives and preservatives are dangerous chemicals that hurt your body. Read the labels and learn what's in your food. Eat more natural and organic foods.

2. Eliminate caffeine and nicotine from your system. Caffeine is an addictive drug, and it harms your body. Stick to decaf coffee and say goodbye to caffeinated soda. You won't believe how much better you will feel. You've probably already heard all about the dangers of smoking and addiction to nicotine. Stop smoking and your body will benefit tremendously.

3. Eliminate processed sugar from the foods you eat. Natural sources of sugar are great, but white sugar and brown sugar are so refined and processed with chemicals that they actually damage your digestive system and affect your brain chemistry. Look for natural and unprocessed sugars to satisfy your sweet tooth.

4. Eliminate meat, especially red meat, from your meals. Farm-raised animals are given drugs and hormones that are passed on to you when you eat them. With all the "mad cow" scares we've heard about, it's easy to see how what is fed to cows can be passed on to humans. Select organic, vegetarian-fed, free-range poultry products and ocean fish for greater health benefits.

5. Eliminate dairy products (anything made from the milk of another animal). Like meat, cow's milk is filled with drugs and hormones that are passed on to us when we drink milk or eat cheese, yogurt and ice cream. The other thing about milk is, would you drink a monkey's breast milk? A dog's? So why are you drinking cow's breast milk? It's meant for a baby cow, not a human.

6. Combine your foods for efficient digestion. When you eat fruit by itself for breakfast, protein and vegetables for lunch, and whole grains and vegetables for dinner, you’ll be amazed at how satisfied you’ll feel, and how much energy you’ll have.

7. Reduce and change the fats you eat. We all need some fat in our diet, but we usually have too much, and too much of the wrong kinds. Fats from natural, whole foods (like fish, nuts and vegetables) are good for you. Pay attention to the kinds of fats you're taking in (saturated fats are the worst) and cut back on your total calculated fat intake.

8. Exercise daily and practice stress reduction. Try to break a sweat for at least 10 minutes a day. Exercise provides many benefits for weight loss and general well being. And make it fun! Also look for ways to relax -- take a bath, or just sit back and laugh! Both exercise and stress reduction help your body.

9. Get enough sleep. Regular, comfortable sleep is a "cure-all". Sleep restores your energy and it helps all the other steps of THM to work effectively.

10. Do everything with Gusto! Gusto is a little hard to explain, and it's different for each of us, but it's something like enthusiasm for life and a positive attitude about yourself. When you've got it, life is good.
