Has anyone ever noticed discrepancies between calories counted on food?
I just looked at Pizza Hut pizzas, and the pizzas + veggies has LESS calories than a regular cheese pizza. I'm sure this isn't true.
This isn't the only example I've seen.
Do I have a good point to make? Not really, since the calorie differences are quite small.
Just keep your eyes open and use common sense. If you find a calorie count that doesn't seem right, it probably isn't.
While I can't think of any examples right now, I remember seeing inconsistencies mostly on smaller brands. Products that have been around a while, from big name brands are probably correct.
I also remember seeing a "news" comparison of high calorie salads from restaurants. The number just didn't add up between salads. In fact, one comment was made "We don't know why this salad has so many calories... but....)......
Nice to see our journalists are using their brains. LOL....

Probably because they have less sauces which are laden with sugar and fat at a guess.

I once read KFC calorie content. Apparently 2 pieces of chicken were some stupidly low calorie content, i then went elsewhere to get exact calories of each piece of chicken, turns out their '2 pieces' were a drum and wing. the smallest parts of the chicken, and never ever in any combo together (wing and thigh or drum and breast usually). Its just another way to trick you into thinking its ok to eat.

Despite it all being bad for me, fuck i love KFC and pizza and other junk food :D

I agree with "use your brain, if it seems too good to be true, it probably is." I find some things online that just don't seem right to me, so I try to make comparisons to other similar stuff elsewhere and go with what I believe to be closest to reality.

Myself I dont count calories , So long as its clean and low carb I eat it lol . I think I Salad from Mac ds has more calories than a big mac so I heard not sure if that's true tho .....

Well... A big mac really isn't all that big if you compare it.
What really makes it bad is all that "special sauce" and cheese.
Big Mac.... 540 calories. I think a double Whopper has around 1000 cals.
Their Angus Bacon and cheese has 790 calories.
Premium Bacon
Ranch Salad with
Crispy Chicken 11.4 oz (324 g) 370 calories.
So.. maybe with the dressing it is a big more than the big mac, but it doesn't seem that awful to me.

Hey..... I just looked online for nutrition info for Cici's pizza.......
This is just silly
432 one slice pepperoni pizza
152 one slice cheese pizza

Hi Monster. I just want to say you're not the only one who thinks that of some calorie information. At times I think people are too focused on how much they should be consuming on a daily basis. As long as it's not greasy or fatty and won't clog my arteries I will enjoy the foood.

One thing that really gets me mad is how some of the manufactures of snacks label the calorie in on the back. I just saw one small bag of chocolate popcorn that listed the calories in the back then when you looked at the servings it said 'serving per package 1.25' I think the packager hopes that we will only look at the calorie part and not notice the servings so we'll eat more but think we're getting less calories. How many of us are going to measure out the serving and then save the .25 for another day. Why don't they just list the whole bag when there is less than what they consider a serving left. Just goes to show you how they try to trick us.

Hi Monster,
I think that the dressing you choose and the meat and cheese would be your highest calorie content when eating salad. Leave off the crackers, bacon bits, and eat the veggies, lol. I use a little vingar on my salad when I am at home. I agree we should use common sense when counting calories and choosing what foods we eat and just enjoy. Manufactures wants to sell their snacks! I love popcorn and I pop my own and use "No Salt" satisfies my cravings for popcorn. I have been trying to count calories, not sure if it is worth it. I ate 3 or 4 sm slices of pizza a few days back and I gained a pound back and it is hard to get it back off. I should have not ate the pizza, not good for the challenge threads.:waving:

Maybe the cheese pizza has extra cheese on it? I.e. they add more cheese since you don't get any other toppings? That's the only thing that makes any sense to you.

The difference in calories is actually quite minor, but I don't believe that it has any less calories.
Here's my take on it:
Chain pizza stored are obsessed with uniformity between pizza shops, and that means premeasured ingredients. The next time you go to any pizza shop, have a look at how they put toppings on, they use a cup to get the amount of cheese just right, same with the toppings, and sauce. When's the last time you saw pizza dough made from scratch? You don't because the dough is also premeasured, and sent to the stores as individual lumps.

Hehe, the pizza place I go to is New York style pizza made from scratch :D But I certainly believe you on the premeasuring! That was just the only thing I could think of that even remotely made sense. ... Unless the veggies are negative calories!
