Entry 1: Day 1

Total food eaten and the estimated calories.
a tuna sandwich- no mayo, reduced cal bread- 240
2 cupcakes- 500
3 bowls of udon noddles- 700
handfull of doritos- 100

total: 1540 (I think I uder estimated the calories though)

Excercise: 20 mintues on bike. cal burnt - 170.

overall: 1370 cals intake

I fell all bloated- there's way to much sodium in those udon noddles.

Goal: 1200 cal intake with excercise (daily.)

Good Luck on your new adventure Solo.

Stay with the diary !!

Hi Solo, and welcome! Listen, you are working hard at this, so don't undercut those efforts by "estimating" calories. Lots of sites online list nutrition info. Fitday.com, for instance, is free for the basic program, and you can list your foods for the day and get a running tally of all your nutrition info as well as chart your exercise, calories burned and weight loss.

Now, I Googled Udon noodles, and this is what I found:

Nutritional Highlights
Udon noodles (cooked), 2 oz. (56g)
Calories: 190
Protein: 5g
Carbohydrate: 41g
Total Fat: 1g
Fiber: 1g

This is JUST the noodles themselves. If there are any other ingredients, of course, the counts will go up. So if you have three bowls of plain noodles with 2 ounces of noodles per bowl, you had 570 calories.

As Trucker says, keep posting. This journey gets easier and easier as you go :)

Wecome Solo. Getting the motivation to exercise is a very good thing. Trying to lose weight at the beginning can be frustrating but keep up the dedication and the rewards will be plentiful. As for your diet, there are a lot of receipes and diet suggestions on this forum. Get some ideas from a nutritionist. Since I have started my weight lose program, I have cut out all breads, sugars and most carbs. I am litterally addicted to bread. That is my weakness. And if I can do it, you can do it. Find a diet that suits your needs. Take care and "don't forget to breath" <<<<<<<< this is my new slogon :D

Hi, Solo! Welcome! As Silver Sonnet mentioned, don't estimate your calories. One tends to overestimate just to be on the safe side, and you could be robbing yourself of some extra calories (which your body needs and you'll enjoy eating). I know it's a pain in the *rear* to have to keep track so closely, but I guess that's the name of the game ... at least at first. Hang in there! You can do it! Good luck!

My 'bible'.

I owe so much credit to my weight loss to this clever site. It's helped me narrow down the numbers to an exact science.

Help us help you and tell us more about yourself. This is a safe haven for dieters. There's no fear in putting up your stats on here.

Hi Solo!!!
It looks like you've taken a good first step! Congratulations on that!! You know, I've found that before trying to do ANYTHING, never mind lose weight, it's important to find people who will SUPPORT and MOTIVATE you!! You've done that, and started exercising, now it looks like it's a matter of deciding what your goal(s) are. A wise man told me that your more like to achieve your goals if you write them down...it makes them more real!!! Everyone else has given awsome advice about calorie counting ect...use their experiences to better yourself!!!;)
