So I've mentioned these before in a couple threads.
And mentioned it just recently in the thread about shoe suggestions. I figure rather than recommending them over and over again, I'll just make it a thread which I can quickly refer people to.
First of all, I have no company affiliation. I am a satisfied customer. This company does not advertise, they've made their success through word of mouth.
First, an overview of the company.
Their products are widely available to the US, Canada, and the UK, this much I know. They may have suppliers elsewhere. If you are having problems finding a pair, contact their customer support on the website.
Their customer support is fast, polite, helpful, and prompt at taking action to address any concerns or problems.
The company is VERY honest in their integrity of service, and product quality. The insoles come with a life-time 100% satisfaction guarantee. When an order of mine was lost because they were moving offices, I got a free pair of socks, no complaints necessary, it was a freely unprovoked offer.
This is probably THE best company to do business with. No scams, no risks, no problems getting EXACTLY what you want. They've given you full freedom to make a satisfiable purchase.
The company is promoted by everyday people and celebrities alike. Their testimonial page is full of recommendations by athletes of all categories, military, law enforcement, and emergency response personnel.
They have a line of signature edition models which were made with the cooperation of professional athletes Dean Karnazes and Ed Viesturs. I guess they have a sponsorship deal going or something. However, this line donates $2 from each sale to sports foundations, always a plus.
As for the actual product...
I've been wearing them for a total of 3 years. The longest I've worn a single pair has been 2 years. This is because I bought them for all my shoes and grew out of a couple of the smaller ones.
The 2 year pair look brand new other than a faint outline on my foot. Otherwise, the fabric on the top has no signs of deterioration. They hold their shape just as well as the day I got them.
The heel cup is well formed, and does a very good job of eliminating any sliding of the foot.
The arch support is a little funny. It tends to leave a gap of air space between the arch and the inside of your shoe. This is good because it lets the arch flex on impact to absorb and distribute shock. But the arch is quite stiff and well cushioned, so it still provides really good support.
The material is designed so that it will adjust its density and support according to where your feet are experiencing the most pressure.
My PERSONAL experience using this product from day 1...
When I received these insoles, I thought there was absolutely no way I could use them. The arch support was HIGH from what I was comfortable with. It felt like I was walking on a curved slope. However, I had also noticed that the shoes I was wearing fit much better. There was less empty space in the shoe, and the material seemed to hug and move with my foot more closely. I think the most noticeable difference is in the heel area. Immediately you feel the support in your heel. You feel like you can just spring forward. However months of testing proved that these insoles were actually quite comfortable for standing around long periods of time as well. Definitely good for daily wear. I was using the ultra sport model (the grey one) although I suspect the comfort model would make for even better daily wear.
I didn't have an oven to heat-mold these, I used the warmth from my feet, and frequent wear. It took maybe a couple weeks of constant use if I remember correctly. By constant I only mean that they were in every pair of shoes I wore.
Once molded to my foot shape, I still noticed that there was an arch, however it felt natural. It supported the arch when you stood on it without throwing off the balance of your foot, and it didn't throw off your weight distribution. You can run and walk naturally and comfortably.
However, walking does feel a little different. It may seem awkward at first, the company claims that this is because you aren't used to walking with that much support. I personally would agree with this statement because it did begin to feel normal, and then regular inserts just felt like walking on a foam mat. While it may feel a little odd at first, you'll also notice that walking feels much easier and that your muscles don't take as much strain. Your feet don't start to hurt. You can maintain a faster pace with less effort. It's just better. More comfortable, more efficient, better fit, less pain, more enjoyable, less to think about.
I think what really sold me on these insoles was when winter came around. Deep snow can be murder on your calves. When we had 30cm on the ground, and I had to run across the football field to make it to school with 20-30lbs in my schoolbag I was glad to have these insoles. It still sucked, but it would have hurt a lot more without them.
So that's my testimony.
Service 10/10
Material quality 10/10
Comfort 3/10 unmolded, 8/10 molded, 10/10 once you're used to them
Performance 10/10
Overall Value 10/10
These are pretty much as good as you can get in my opinion, and I've worn custom made orthopedic shoe inserts designed from a plaster cast of my foot and custom cut to fit my shoe. Costing in the area of $40, these things are a steal as they can actually make more of an improvement than the footwear you put them in.
I suggest everyone on here put these down on their christmas wish list this year. If you don't like them, you can always take them back. They come in high and low volume models so you should be able to find a pair which fits. I've also used the low volume version of the ultra sport, bit less cushioning, but same general feel.
So here's my friendly challenge to you. Mold them and wear them for at least 2 months. Walk in them, run in them, lift weight in them, do everything in them. Put your old inserts back in your shoes and try them out. See if you can convince yourself to return the soles.
