Soccer player with questions

Hi, I'm 15.

I am an avid soccer player and have exercised a lot this summer through various camps. I feel like the amount of exercise I do weekly is pretty good--I have practice three days a week for an hour and a half, and I usually run and/or do sprints on off days. To be honest, my diet consists of something fat lards eat. However, I've decided to try and fix this and have actually been eating quite healthy and cutting my portions a bit the past few days. I figure when I get older and don't work out so much, I'll be "one of those enormous people they show the back of on documentaries like 'Supersize Me!'" if I don't straighten out my diet. Is it alright to cut down on some carbs when I'm an athlete? (Sorry if this sound naiive, I've never been on a "diet" before)

I have a nasty pudge in my stomach. I mean, I can't wear most of the kinds of shirts my friends wear (no, I'm not eating healthy because of them, though I would like to do this for myself and to boost confidence) because of this stupid pudge when all the rest of my body is fine (my legs, arms, etc., are toned and my cardiovascular endurance is probably a little less than its best. What should I do to get rid of this? I'm under the impression that lower-ab exercise and crunches as well as better eating will help this. Is that true? What's the best way to get rid of it?
