Hello people of the forum. :D
I've lurked here a bit, and I decided it would be a good place to get some inspiration and advice. I've been to some other weight loss forums, but this one seemed so friendly. Not too big, not too small.
Anyway, a little bit about me.
I've been slowly gaining weight since I was about 10 years old. It's been rough, I'm sure there are plenty of people who remember being one of 'the fat kids' in school. That was pretty much the only label I got back then.
Here I am, 21(soon to be 22) and my current weight is about 230 lb. A couple of months ago I started working out and lost about 15 lb. but I got sick and instead of getting back to the workout after I was better, I just kind of slacked off and I've gained 5 lb. back.
I'm starting to get worried about my weight since diabetes runs in my family, along with alot of other weight related problems. I need to do something about it now, but I lack motivation. Seriously. The things I want to do in my life require me to be in shape, as well. So, I feel like being fat is holding me back and I hate it.

Well~ I'm pretty new to these forums too but I like it here~ ^__^
As for your weight problem~ I'm just getting back to the gym after slacking off also. But I believe if I can loose 60 pounds then so can any1 who puts their mind to it and really wants to. for a long-term goal like this one it takes alot of determination~ don't have your fat hold you back but make it help you push yourself to getting to that one goal~ itll be worth it once you get there~ and you will be able to do the things you want to do in life~ good luck! ^_~

Hi there and welcome to the board! I can totally relate to being the fat kind in school, I also wore huge thick glasses  I lost 10 pounds about 9 months ago but stress and depression made me gain it all back. Now I'm in for the long haul and I feel great.:) Everyone here is great and I'm sure you will feel at home right away. There's always someone around to give you a friendly push in the right direction.

Hey I'm 21 too! :)I just wanted to welcome you. I'm glad you found this forum and I really hope that you choose to stick around. The ladies are so nice here and hey provide so much motivation and useful information, I'm sure you'll love it! We all have our ups and downs and the key is getting back into things. Keep coming around and working at things and I'm sure you'll see a big change. :) Good luck!

Hey there! Welcome to our forum!!! I think like most people here will tell you, the best advice I can give is to go slowly and realize that you are making a lifestyle change. This isn't about giving up all sweets for a month and then everything is better. It's about limiting your sweets, and keeping them around forever, as well as losing weight =)

I think that if you can motivate yourself to workout for two weeks (try for just 15-30 min each day) that you will build yourself into a pattern where it will be easy to keep up. I am always surprised how good I feel during and after a workout - it is just the getting started that is hard!!! Good luck!!!
