so I've lived a fairly sedentary lifestyle really only exercising when playing with friends or with my significant other. but now i wanna make a change in my life and go after something I've wanted to do for a long time join the military, army specifically. to get into boot camp i need to be 250lbs according to the army's height weight req. I'm currently 273 so i need to lose 23 lbs I'd like to do it in about 45 days. I've gone to the local supplement store and got weight loss supplements (it's a regimen not just a miracle pill type thing they help me lose weight i still have to do the work on my own) and I'm ready to start but i don't know where to being that I'm not in any kind of shape it's kind of a push to run for much more that 10 Min's and makes me feel fairly pathetic to say the least lol.

any tips that will point me in the right direction being that my parents don't really cook the healthiest going on a strict diet will be a challenge due to lack of healthy options. I'm comfortable with the reality i just have to limit how much i eat and try and swap a huge sandwich with maybe a fruit salad or something.

basically all i know is what i see on TV and it's easy when you have like Jillian Micheals yelling at you the entire time but i need to know what tricks i can do to keep myself on track

That is so fantastic that you are taking the steps to a healthier lifestyle. Congrats! And another congrats on wanting to join the military. That’s very brave of you.

I do have a lot of tips and information for beginners. I’ve been helping friends and family with their goals for a while now and have decided to reach out to others.

Basically I’d recommend starting off with what you can handle physically until you get into the routine of working out. If you do too much from the start, you’ll more than likely burn yourself out and give up.

I’d have to know a bit more about your lifestyle and what you’re currently doing in order to get into detail. If you’re interested, you can email me at crysdbell@gmail.com

I really hope you find the answers you’re looking for and good luck to you!

Worry less about your weight and more about your fitness level as you need to have a certain standard to join the military and it would probably pay to be somewhat stronger than their minimum.

Train towards these goals and the weight will likely take care of itself.

run 3 miles in 18 minutes (6 minute mile).

60 consecutive pushups within 2 minutes

100 consecutive crunches within 2 minutes

20 consecutive pull ups within 2 minutes

There are a number of military forums - google army, training, forums and you will find them - they have threads on how to lose weight and be ready for the fitness tests. These sites have military fitness trainers who will be happy to answer you questions.
