So how does this all work?

I am starting to attempt to loose some weight!
My boyfriend and I are going to Cuba at Christmas and I am really motivated to loose weight for that trip! Right now I am 205 lbs and 5'6". This is the biggest I have ever been. About five years ago, I was 200, lost 50 and then slowly gained it back.
When I lost the weight before it was through Jenny Craig. It worked really well but it's so expensive! I am just not in a financial place right now to use it. One of the things that really helped me with Jenny Craig was their online forum. There were many of us that spoke regularly and encouraged each other!
I found this forum and I hope to find the same type of support here...
So how does it work? It all seems so overwelming on this site with lots of threads to lots of posts???
Any tips would help!

Hey Girl. What kind of diet and exercise are you doing? There are so many ideas on this forum that I'm sure you can get all sorts of info here. Welcome and keep on posting. :D
 
you will find lots of support and encouragement here... and if you've enver been to cuba - it is one of the most beautiful places I've ever been to... the water is blue, the food was amazing, the people of Cuba, even living in the poverty that they do, are so warm and full of life.. it's an amazing place...

Now..to get you on the road to support and encouragment.. start yourself a diary in the diary section... and the rest will take care of itself for the most part. :D

If you don't have a plan yet, read some other diaries, and you'll get an idea of what others are doing, but mostly it's sensible eating plans with exercise... which we all now is the best way to go :D

I want to go to Cuba. :( My grandfather used to go every year before he got to old. He's 92 now and he still wants to go all the time but the travel insurance won't cover him. He's too old for it. I've heard all the eat there is chicken. Is that true?????
 
I was there about 10 years ago.. gack it's been a while... I remember a lot of fish... (which isa good thing) a lot of fruit and a lot of rum... and the occassional cigar...

Things do change over time, but i cant imagine that there's less fish.. it's an island :) I don't recall a lot of beef, except for something called ropas viesomethingorother that translated to dirty clothes or ripped clothes.. it wassome sort of meat that was cooked forever in lots of spices and tomatoes and served in a tortilla...

I went for the diving... and the sun.. it was fun explaining to US Customs how I went to canadain the winter and came home with really good color.. (americans are not allowed to go there... but... there are ways.)

Yeah Cuba will be great! I have not been before and I am really excited about it!

In regards to the type of plan I am following now... I have been seriously working on this for exactly one day! I am trying to focus on being healthy. I am just cutting out the bad snacks and cutting up a ton of fruits and veggies. I dont' have a real plan other than fueling my body, rather than my sweet tooth.:p

I will get on the diary part in the next day or two...
What are the clubs about? How do you join?

Out of all the diet stuff we tried that South Beach one for us worked the best. If you stick to it the right way for the first two weeks you will loose 8 to ten pounds right off the bat. It was tuff for me to 100% cut out all the carbs...I am a sweet tooth clown too so it was mean, but it did work...Mike
