snowing in the city, want to continue to running to the gym

Everyday since about 3 months ago I have started running to my gym instead of driving-the weather hasn't been bad, but we just got a big snow here and I want to continue to run to the gym. I just don't know how I am going to do that-do I run in the same shoes that I always run in or do I need to get specific running shoes made for crappy weather. I've read about the running snow shoes, but it seem like they are only for running on trails out in the country and not for running on pavement on the city sidewalks (I live in downtown Chicago). Can anyone help direct me in the right direction?

I think you should drive to your gym in this weather. If you are not used to running in such an environment, it is very risky. Pavements sometimes get more slippery than roads. If you breathe very cold and dry air, you may end up with bad throat. Anyway, that's my opinion.
