Snide remarks

I'm back training now about 7 months and am getting some remarks (all of which I can handle) about my change in diet, training etc and was wondering has any1 else experienced the same??

Like people being douchbags because you won't eat 4 slices of pizza with them or drink 6 pints of beer every night?

Eff 'em. They are just jealous of your dedication and committment.

People generally say things not knowing they're hurtful to another person.

While they might ask you questions about your current eating habits, they probably are just wondering.

I wouldn't worry too much about it and would expect more to come.

I think people make comments like that because when you try to make changes, it underlines something in their own lives which says "I need to change/eat better/exercise more" and they don't like to be reminded that they need to change or of their failure to change. They have a go at you when really they are trying to pass the invisible buck and escape the realisation about just how bad they have let themselves get!

Rest assured that every time they pass comment, its because you have outlined to them their failures and they do not like it. Its not about you, its about them.

Also, make sure you're not just being too thin-skinned. I don't know what was said, and maybe it was indeed totally uncalled for.

Mostly just make sure to not make a big deal out of nothing. Life is too short for that. Live in the 'now' as much as possible. :)

My thoughts exactly. I think anyone that works out or eats healthy experiences this. I used to work at an office where I'd catch multiple daily comments about bringing my lunch to work instead of ordering out. Most people would say things like "I should start doing that." I didn't mind telling some people (on a daily basis) that I prefer to eat healthy. I'd laugh to myself because everyday, these people would eat something greasy, then complain all afternoon about their stomachs hurting.

Yep, some people like to tell me I am 'storing up problems for the future'. They are usually somewhat large, eat trash & drink a lot! Some people find commitment to yourself threatening or they feel guilty about their own habits. Just remember anything they say is not about you but about them so leave them to it and enjoy your doing what works for you!

hahaha yeah, sorta liek when peopel tell you not to run becuase a guy had a heart attack and died doing a marathon.

fat and lazy is the way of the day.

stay the course!

It doesn't happen too often to me to be honest.

People who give such remarks are insecure, jealous and plain stupid. They don't know what is good for them - they know they should be doing like you so they protect their own ego by trying to deflate yours with snide remarks.

Snide remarks should actually motivate you if you interpret them properly. Smile and know for a fact that their snide remarks is actually a way of telling you that you are doing what you should be doing.

Returning these snide remarks viciously once in a while kinda feels good to, try it.
