Hi there,

As it is recommended, I am trying to eat less but more often. It's hard for me to find something to eat between my breakfast and lunch other than a chocolate bar or junks like that.
But I am wondering, if I bring an apple or a banana is it ok ? How about some raisins.
The thing is that I feel these products have too much carbs which isn't really good isn't it ?

I am trying to get lean by the way:
I am 27, 5'10" and 144lbs (don't know my bf). using BW workout (push ups, pull ups...)

they are certainly better than chocolate bars. I personally eat raw almonds between breakfast and lunch. Your body still needs the carbs. You should find out your proper macronutrient combination and plan a diet around it.

i get about 15-20% of my calories in a day from carbohydrates. Everybody's body is different though. You gotta keep tweaking the diet a little and see what works for you. But always remember that diet is the single most important part of losing fat.

at 5'10" and 144lbs, you should be lean already, unless you're lacking in lean muscle mass, in which case it'll be hard to trim down much as your caloric needs will be lower than someone of the same height/build/lifestyle who has more lean muscle mass.
muscle require calories to maintain its size...this is why giant bodybuilders eat 6,000+ calories a day, but you and I don't hardly need 3,000 to bulk up.

figure out what you need for macronutrients, and then you'll be able to distribute things among your 5-7 daily meals.

An apple is better than a banana by a few g of sugar carbs, and raisins are very sugary, but do have a little more fiber per serving.

remember that carbs from most fruits aren't the same as carbs from pasta, or carbs from veggies. Carb covers starches, sugars and fiber...all of which are processed a little differently by the body. starch/sugars are needed for energy, and you need at least 100g of carbs on average per day to keep the brain functioning properly.

increasing your cardio workouts will also help burn fat off your body...but again it'll be hard to maintain the fat loss without enough lean mass. slender people with little lean mass and some stomach fat are usually better off going on a light bulk for 2-3 months to build that initial lean mass, then go on a cutting phase to burn off the fat and show off that muscle. that's my opinion on it.

Didnt notice this before....

Are you by chance female? if not, you need to be bulking. It will be a lot easier for you to bulk for a while, then cut to lean up the muscle.

Very nice and interesting advices guys. It does make a lot of sense. (btw I am a guy).
One thing though, during my bulking stage, will I gain fat ? I guess of course, but will I be able to control it ? I mean limit its increase ?
the idea of gaining fat is something that bothers me cuz I used to be "heavy" when I was younger (around 170lbs) and I know how hard it is to cut down.

Basically, me I am not fat of course but I do have that thin layer of fat around my stomach which I hate btw!!! That's what I wanted to get rid off

Now concerning that bulking stage:
Right now I have a pull ups bar and I go every day for about 200 push-ups.
Do I really need to hit the gym for light bulking ? Is there any routine using only BW ?

Hey,
You most likely will gain some fat, but you can do a "clean" bulk-up by eating clean (you should do that anyways) and controlling your intake. You create a surplus, watch your gains and what happens to your body, and increase/decrease your intake if necessary.

200 push-ups a day is way too much. You rather destroy your muscle tissue than improve it by doing so many reps. Also you need to work out your whole body, not only certain parts of it.
You don't necessarily need to go to a gym, take a look at site. You can do it all with body weight. Alternatively you could also get some dumbbells/a barbell and a bench. It's much cheaper than going to the gym and you can train pretty much every muscle.
Good luck!

It's impossible to spot reduce. You cant just remove fat from certain parts of your body...I'm sure we ALL would like to be able to do that. The simple fact is, you need to focus on a clean diet, and a solid workout plan to reduce fat.

Right now i would say you are at an ideal weight to start bulking. But nowhere in your post have you mentioned the desire to bulk up. If all you wanna do is lose the last layer of fat, the most important part is the diet and cardio. I would also consider starting a decent weight program as well so you dont lose the muscle mass you've already got.
