Weight-Loss Smoothies

Weight-Loss
Could somebody tell me how to make a fruit and yoghurt smoothie with the following:

Bannana
Skimmed Milk
Strawberries
Blueberries
Greek Yoghurt or Natural Yoghurt (not sure which is best)

Do I just bang it all in the blender and that's it? I have heard some talk about freezing bannanas????

I have googled it but that that hasn't proved helpful to be honest. Are there any other ingredients I need?

It depends on how thick you want your smoothies. I personally use frozen strawberries & pineapples + whey protein isolate + water + sometimes ice.

With the yogurt, it will already thicken it some, so if you use frozen fruit it might be too thick and you'd need to add more water. If I were going with yogurt rather than protein powder I'd go with Greek because of the higher protein powder.

And pretty much just toss it in the blender and pulse. Add more water or milk if it's too thick, throw in some ice if it's too thin! You can also throw in psyllium husk for fiber and some thickening. I actually get inulin powder because it's a slightly sweet fiber powder, but it's certainly not required. Both pineapple and banana are sweeter but have less fiber than the berries (this may or may not matter to you, I'm a fiber fanatic due to cholesterol issues). I have also never tried freezing a banana... the other fruits yes, but not bananas.

I keep contemplating an avocado/strawberry smoothie but I haven't been brave enough to try ;)

Kara also throws in spinach - she can't taste it, but I always can unfortunately. :(

Bananas are very freezable, and yes, making a smoothie is really that easy.

Agree w/ Jeanette, I like Greek yogurt better.

As a side note, if your blender isn't fantastic or you like your smoothies a bit creamier, freeze all your fruits first and the night before put all the frozen fruits in your blender jar along with the milk to sit in the fridge overnight.

In the morning add your yogurt and any other ingredients. The fruit is just the right amount of frozen to blend up creamy.

Yup. What everyone else has said.

Ultimately it's about YOUR tastes, so don't overthink it too much. Just throw a bunch of stuff into a blender. Maybe the first one will be great, or maybe it'll need some tweaking. Just don't give up and walk away after the first one. Make changes. Add things, remove things, experiment. The worst that will happen is that you make something you don't like and so you'll know not to make that again. :)
