Smoking.

I quit smoking twentyone months, two weeks, six days and eleven hours ago.
But every once in a while, the urge to smoke hits me like a brick.
It's really annoying, and telling people about it helps. So I'm making this post because it takes my mind off of it a little.

Thanks for reading it.

good for you! Kicking that habit will be something you can always be proud of!!!

great work giving up and finding ways to not going back. My husband who gave up about 8 years ago can still tell me how long it has been exactly and still wants one occasionally, so like weight loss giving up smoking can be a lifetime challenge. well done !!

Hello friends,
Everybody knows that smoking is injurious to health. Then also they smoke. God has given us a body to work, not for destroying. Love your body. There is a very famous proverb in English . " Health is Wealth ". The best way to be fit and healthy is drink plenty of water.
Thanks

First off, congrats! It is NOT an easy thing to do at all! I was once very harsh with some friends about them stop smoking, yet here I was shoving fast food and lots of sugars down my throat, attributing to my obesity and food addiction. I am a lot more sympathetic now a days, considering I am staring my own addiction in the eyes. Keep it up!

I am 5 days in (second time) and it is hard. I quit for 3 years before picking it up again and it would the the easiest thing in the world to cave in.

What stops me is wanting something more and knowing where I want to be in 6 months time.

Plus of course not hearing the self-righteous nagging from some of my charming colleagues :)

I did quit before and I found it very hard at the time. I (subconsciously) convinced myself it was impossible to quit. I thought I couldn't quit because of the ppl around me still smoking and because it was a big part of my everyday life, you know? Having one with the first cup of coffee of the day, having one (or more) after a meal, having a whole lot on a night out....
What really happened was, I didn't want to quit 100%. I wouldn't have thought so at that time, but I see that now.

Now I haven't smoked in over a year, and never once had an urge to light one.
This time I was determined to quit, and superdetermined to never light one up again.

To everyone who has quit: Superjob! Keep it up!
Everyone who wants to quit: Good luck, stay strong and be determined!

I smoked for 20 years but quit 15 years ago. The thing that finally did it for me was realizing I was coating my lungs with that horrible black tar. You know the cigarette smell that is so hard to get rid of from your fingers? that's from the black tar, it's a highly carcinogenic poison.

Congratz! Horrible habit, I quit 2 years ago. I noticed the only time I miss is is maybe stress, or things I associated with smoking ( like rolling a car window down) I've been trying to replace them with healthier habits, so now when I roll the window down I take a sip of water or coffee. I read somewhere that cigarette cravings last 3-15 minutes on average, so just know you wont crave it for long! I also got a small addiction to second hand smoke, every time My best friend would go have a smoke I will run out there and sit next to her. Anyone else have that problem after quitting?

I was the same way. You have to want to quit. Congrats! I have finally kicked the habit 5 months ago and haven't had one since, and do not have the urge to. I feel a lot better!
