Small change in my program

I usually eat a diet including all the good stuff, whole grains, protein, you know. It works for me, but of course is fairly slow. However, since Friday I've put crap in my mouth I usually wouldn't touch with a 10 foot pole. I need a jump start and have decided to go back to low-carb for a couple weeks then slowly add my whole grains back in. When I low-carb I still don't do sausage and bacon and all that, mainly lean protein, vegies, a little low-carb yogurt. I need to get my discipline back and feel this is the best way. Any opinions or commentary are appreciated. Does anyone else use this method to get back on track? Thanks.

I find heavy restriction is usually the quickest way to falling off again. Moderation is really key, only cut out what you have to when you have to.
In short no need to be extreme about it. In general I tell people start with making sure the calories are right first and THEN take it from there with better food choices.

I'm with Leigh. Based on my clients, and even myself, when I restrict carbs my cravings shoot through the roof. What makes you think this is the approach that will help you?

I agree with Steve and Leigh - the best way is to have a healthy attitude to food. I would never exclude particular food groups (aka carbs - plenty of good carbs out there) or eat in a way which is not sustainable for a long time. It's not healthy in my eyes and as Steve rightly said, can lead to cravings.

The slower the weight loss, the less likely you'll gain it back. If you embark on a highly restrictive diet, you will probably lose weight, but how will you keep it off forever?
