Slow and steady

I am new to this site but as many of you not new to dieting, exercising etc. I lost about 15 lbs last winter by changing habits or introducing new habits slowly. I relaxed during the summer and gained about 5 back and started focusing again a few weeks ago.

Right now I'm working on:
taking my vitamins and supplements daily,
exercising 30 min a day, and
no sugar

Since I'm just starting again I'm all Gung ho and watching portions etc. I'm trying the 21 day fix diet since it came with my workout dvd's but I find I'm always hungry. The portions are so small. Not sure how much of that is just having to get used to proper proportions rather than what I have been eating.

My mantra right now is - can I do this for the rest of my life? The three things I'm working on now I can. The 21 day fix diet probably not but if trying it helps me with portion sizes or losing a few lbs before I give up on it that'll be a bonus. :)

Shari, I love 21 day fix, it helped me lose 20 lbs earlier this year!! It does take some getting used to. I always would get hungry late at night and have to eat an extra veggie container (or I'd eat something low calorie like a rice cake with PB because I would always have extra teaspoons available!) Don't give up, it really does work. Also I never would measure greens for a salad, because an entire container of spinach is 30 calories. I did measure salad dressing but some little adjustments like that kept me healthy and still within the calorie range for my bracket. And after you have lost your weight, you add several containers so that you are maintaining your weight. I still follow it now but a little bit looser. You can do it!! Remember 21 days and then take a few days off :)

Thanks. This is my first week trying it. I'm over in some and under in others. It'll take a bit to figure it out. I'm eating less than I was and more conscious of each food group I'm eating so that's a good thing.

Perfect :) Stick with it! And the workouts! And try not to step foot on the scale the first 1-2 weeks. It's tempting, but you are building muscle while losing weight, so the scale most likely won't reflect weight loss initially! Are you a part of a challenge group already?

Yes. The challenge group has been great! Our coach has been very supportive which has been a big help.

I know what you mean about the scale :( but I see changes in the mirror :)

^ agree 100%. Scales are only misleading of your true results, especially if you are doing everything right and adding weight training into your regimen. You can't have good weight loss and long term success without doing a bit of weight training, and that can really mess with your scale results

I'm on day 2 staying off the scale. I have 9 days until the challenge I'm in is done so I'm going to wait until the end of the challenge to weigh myself. I'll be retaking my measurements then too.
