Slip sliding away

What is your current plan in detail like?

While you are at it, describe a couple of your slips, with the circumstances and bad foods and what you were thinking when you slipped. Knowing what kinds of bad choices, and the reason they were made, will really help when it comes to providing motivation you can use.

Maybe I can offer you something just based on my own experience.

First, if you know it's a bad food choice, don't have it in your home! But, I see you live in NYC, which means if you really want something, it's easy enough to go out and get.

When I face moments of wanting foods that are really going to counteract the hard working I'm doing, I look for distractions. It does pass. So, I do things around my house to keep me busy until I'm not fixated on what I shouldn't eat. It's hard to keep in mind the big picture sometimes when it's something you want now.

Also, I have a few things on hand to satisfy a craving, like International Delight sugar free Mocha, Chai or Vanilla flavored beverage. no, it's not a big bowl of ice cream, but it keeps me busy and tastes pretty good.

Carrots are good to have on hand if you crave crunchy, Cozy Shack sugar free pudding with low fat or sugar free whipped cream is great if you are craving dessert.

Just a few things that help me through!

Thanks for the feedback. I eat every 3 hours usually clean food. Turkey chicken , wheat bread , vegetables. My problem has been that I'm making bad choices lately. I've lost 15 pounds since the begining of the year. the last week and a half I've slid up 3 pounds. I have a goal to drop another 25 pounds by may 5th. My workout routine is weights three times a week and cardio 4 times a week . The main problem is motivation .

Make sure to eat all your meals at a table without distraction! It helps, a lot.

And if you already do that, well keep it up! The scale will be going down again!

I'm begining to make bad choices with my food. Any encouragement for me ?:(

I see by your sig that you are doing GREAT! Keep it up!

My advice is to do what I do....take a picture that you feel disgusted by weight wise and put it on your frig. I know that some may think it is cruel but I find that it helps me remember why I am doing what I am doing.

Gawd that sounds like me! I have boosted my motivation by going to the gym for at least one week without once allowing the little voice to creep in that says I have other things to do, no time....and having a slip-up on the diet yesterday when I was doing so well doesn't help!

One thing I'm doing about exercise motivation is to rent a locker at the gym. It's $10 per month and I can have a week's supply of clothing in there, my running shoes, towels and toiletries, so I have no excuses, and it's more pleasant to go if I'm not always forgetting something (like socks) in my gym bag or having to lug a bag around all day. The easier I make it for myself the more likely I am to stick with it.

If food is where you tend to slip up I would spend some time at the grocery store and see what all there is that you can eat that you may be missing. No sugar added pudding, frozen treats, the new Kashi frozen meals, etc., there is new food coming out all the time that fits into a diet, so mixing up your choices while staying within your calories may help keep you from getting bored.

Good luck!

Thanks patsfan You're a sweety. Maybe that locker idea is something to be looked into. I'm a member of Ballys , I don't know if they do that.

Hi,

maybe you're just a bit bored with the routine. Perhaps you could plan a treat - (plan a run in a park maybe, or visit a new gym, or plan a meal out with friends and find a place that will do food that you can enjoy guilt free, or just arrange a get together with an old friend, or go to watch a film that will have you belly laughing) Something that breaks the routine, and a reward for all you have done up to this point.

Hmmmm I was just wondering, what were the bad choices you made?

I'm no expert on this, but instead of trying to prevent yourself from making those 'bad choices', why not have a weekly-reward plan instead? So once a week you can have whatever you crave for the most, but then try to have it in smaller portions. :D

I suppose if you can deny yourself all these things all the time, then you have superb willpower. But I love my food, not so much for the quantity, but I just love the flavors that come together from a well-cooked food. So I eat Indian food for lunch, Chinese food for dinner, Thai the next day, Malay for the following meal, etc2. I love them so much I just can't imagine having to deny myself all those things. But what I can do, is to just eat some amount of it such that I feel pretty satisfied and happy, but not too full. ;)

Other than that, I just pretty much eat whatever I feel like eating.

The bad choices are foods that are high in sodium . Also eating out with my friends hurts me because the retaurants have high fat/ calorie selections. I do keep a log and plan on eating what i ate the first week of my diet.
