Slimfast

Hello,

I am just wondering if you people think slimfast is any good for losing weight.

I start my diet today and I am having a slimfast shake for breakfast and lunch and a main calorie controlled meal for dinner.

Ive heard mixed reviews, what are your thoughts?

well, heres another mixed review for you, lol

I've done the slim fast thing before and while it did work, it was hard to drink your meals and it wasn't anything I could stay on for very long.

I've tried it with some success. If you can be dedicated, then it can work for you. However, with any diet like this, after you have acheived your goal weight and you start eating normal again, the weight tends to creep up back on you. I gained almost half my weight back after I started eating breakfast and lunch again.

I always get way to hungry to do the slimfast diet. Each can is about 180-220 calories *depending if you get optima or regular* so thats only around 440 liquid calories by dinner time that youve had. I like slimfast for fast breakfasts when I dont have time because they have alot of vitamins and minerals (I prefer the high protein kind) but they do have high fructose corn syrup which Im not a fan of. So its kind of a give and take situation...

it's effective for losing weight quickly because it's low calorie

It's ineffective for long term fat loss because it's not something that you can stay with for the rest of your life.

If you're trying to get into a dress/tuxedo for a specific event... or a swimsuit for a pool party where skinny dipping might happen - then knock yourself out.. if you want to lose fat healthily - then change your eating habits and add in exercise - and you'll lose fat and it will stay lost forever.

Read the ingredients list on a can of slimfast - can you pronounce and know what all those ingredients are? are you really comfortable eating mystery chemicals?

SlimFast will do nothing for long-term change, as everyone has said.

You need to throw the idea of going on a diet out the window and decide that you're going to change how you eat for life. That doesn't mean depriving yourself or eating things that you hate, but it does mean making healthier choices (maybe trying new foods you never ate before that you just might love) and eating reasonable portions.

You learn nothing from SlimFast. You're not going to drink that crap for two meals a day for the rest of your life and when you get sick of it, you still won't know how to eat properly.

You need to undo old bad habits and relearn good ones. Take care of your body and give yourself the gift of a longer healthier life. What you do now will pay dividends later on.

suppliments, or meal replacements, are good. but for anything long-term or perm solution they're not.

i take them for if i'm running around and don't have time to actually sit and eat, or for convenience. they're also good if you think you're not getting the proper nutrition on a daily basis :)

i'd take them just as they're meant for: suppliment/replacements.

:)

I have to agree about it not working for long term, when I was younger I tried slim fast and I was always hungry. I could not stick with it very well because for the most part it isn't very filling and goes through you fast. Needless to say I gained the weight back within a year.
