SlimFast as a supplement?

I've gone through a lot of different PWO shakes and supplements, but recently I've been using SlimFast as a PWO shake (along with a multivitamin). I've seen some pretty good results so far; reduced recovery time, decent gains in strength, dropped 3 inches around the belly in a few months and only lost about 5 pounds.

I'm pretty satisfied so far, but like any good Military guy I'm always looking to improve. What is everyones opinion on this stuff?

(One of the things I'm looking to do is lose fat and build "functional" muscle. I'm not interested in looking like a sculpted Adonis if I can't knock out 100 pushups in the process, or ruck march 80 lbs of equipment without feeling like I'm about to die)

I think SlimFast contains too much sugar, and I also don't believe in substituting actual meals with shakes like a lot of people do.
I rather see people use them as a between meal snack, if at all. Personally, I'm not a big fan at all, but if it's working for you, more power to you.
I definitely wouldn't recommend it long-term though.

unless they radically changed the formula, I recall slimfast (especially the ready to drinks) as being horrible.

I've heard of people using slimfast to gain weight. Are you adding it to a normal diet or are you replacing meals with it?

Off the top of my head, I'd be concerned about the amount of sugar and quality of protein. But, then again, I think the amount of sugar is a concern in many ready-made protein shakes.

I'm adding the Slimfast (and all the sugar in it) to my diet, so all the dietary stuff is accounted for. I'll have a decent sized sandwich and a shake for lunch usually.

Slimfast is ok once in a while. The best time to drink it, because of it's high sugar content, would be immediately after a workout. Replacing meals with Slimfast is not a healthy thing to do in the long-term.
