Slender legs?

What is the best way to make your legs muscles more slender?

I jog and walk a lot, but not on an incline, as i've been told that will build muscle and do my callenetics (like yoga and balet exercises) yet my leg muscles seem stubbornly bulky.

Hiya,

First off, I'm not an expert.

But I THINK that you can't really choose how your legs will "develop" if you are working out. I think it is genetic. Some people have shorter legs, and have muscles that will develop that will "seem" bulky looking (I do.) If fat is not the issue, and you enjoy walking and jogging, then why not just appreciate what you have? Your legs say, "I am a strong girl who knows how to run" instead of "I am an anorexic party chick" (the message I get when I see those slender legs in Cosmo or on celebs.

I like my newly developed muscly legs. They are not masculine, but they are not model-thin, either. They are STRONG! ;)

hey tashhh,

my legs are fairly bulky too and as I've been losing weight I haven't noticed much of a difference in them. Ever hear about the three shapes Pear, Apple, and Hourglass? I fit into that pear category and I don't carry much weight above the hips. I'm trying to learn to accept that my legs will always be thicker than I like.

If I were going to recommend any exercises, I'd say look into pilates. That seems to be the best for building lean muscle. I think the key to success with that is probably partially stretching your legs as often as you can, and frequently while you're working them out.

Great advice INDIGOIIS!

I agree, I am the same. I have strong muscular legs-it's from the dad, that I always hated when growing up. I wished that I could have skinnier leaner legs. But then you realize the grass is always greener on the other side. If you are working out and doing what you should be, then focus on your positives.

Ah, I've been meaning to start yoga for ages just cannot get myself to find the time for it. As for legs - mine are not really bulky and I actually used to be pretty slim most of my life - until recently. I developed huuuge (as to my view) hips so the upper part of the leg looks pretty big. Will yoga help that as well?
