Weight-Loss Skinny Cow and other treats...

Weight-Loss

Just wanted to say how much I love the Skinny Cow ice cream sandwiches. I used to eat the Weight Watchers sandwiches which were a little drier (cookie part) and decided to try the Skinny Cow's. Aweome! Love them... 140 calories per treat (which I had after dinner tonight because I didn't have enough calories in for the day). I know people don't like processed foods and whatnot on these forums but they are really delish!

Oh yeah, also started eating Fiber One Honey cluster cereal (I started with the Oat's N Chocolate and the Oat's n Peanut Granola bars, so I gave the cereal a shot). Oh wow, its so FRIGGIN great! A ton of fiber which is always more gooder plus it's only 160 calories per bowl (52 grams, which is pretty impressive for most cereals).

Anyone else have things that taste like guilty pleasures but actually have some decent nutrition?

I used to love the SC ice cream treats- til i read the label... HFCS is a key ingredient... and that's on my no fly list..

Whole foods makes an awesome frozen fruit bar that's my new substitute and is incredibly good...

HFCS? I know I know the acronym, just can't think at the moment.

Oh yeah. I dunno. I believe sugar is sugar. So whether or not it is HFCS or just plain ol' sugar it reacts the same to your body.

Agreed. I believe the big difference between HFCS and regular sucrose is 55-45 blend to a 50-50 blend. Many researchers and doctors feel it isn't enough to make it reak havok on the metabolism like everyone wants to shout. What they do say is, that it's so cheap that its being dumped into products like crazy. However, when it comes down to the end of the day, its calories in vs calories out. IMHO.

The only positiveness I've read of HFCS is from the Corn producers - pretty much everyone else says to avoid it... because of the effect it can have on your body...

It is calories in calories out - but.. why put unneccesary chemicals into your body...

Good point. I just find that it may be my excuse to stick to things that have HFCS in it that works for my diet. I am not really taking it in boat loads (like soda) but I know my cereal has it (not one of the top 5 ingredients) and my fiber one bars as well (again not top 5). I think Skinny Cow does have it listed as top five... so you are right, I am eating things with it but generally speaking it isn't the main ingredient.

The You on a Diet book, which is about the most common sense book to health I've read -and my guilty pleasure is reading idiotic diet books... basically says if it's in the top 5 ingredients be concerned if it's not - then don't worry so much about it...

skim milk, wafer [bleached wheat flour, sugar, caramel color, dextrose, palm oil, corn flour, cocoa, high fructose corn syrup, corn syrup, modified corn starch, baking soda, salt, mono and diglycerides, soy lecithin], sugar, corn syrup, polydextrose, cream, whey protein, Inulin (Dietary Fiber), stabilizer [microcrystalline cellulose, cellulose gum, mono and diglycerides, locust bean gum, calcium sulfate, polysorbate 80, carrageenan], natural flavor, vitamin A palmitate

Per their website.

Is corn syrup and HFCS the same thing? because if not, than these are actually "ok".

they are two different things from my understanding - the HFCS undergoes a chemical process that straight corn syrup does not.. I also don't think palm oil is the healthiest of oils...

but don't let me talk you out of the product -if yu enjoy 'em - enjoy 'em :D

LoL... I def don't think they are making me "fat", but if I can avoid stuff that is "bad" I probably should be avoiding them. I know there is worse out there too... but people try to link HFCS to the pouch people have, and that is what I need to be working off (well, eventually, its a more than a pouch less than a gut at this point, if that even makes sense!!!).

mmmm! I love the skinny cow and weight watcher ice cream treats! i don't see anything wrong in indulging in a sweet treat! :)

I like Blue Bunny Lite Personals. For the whole tub it's only 200 calories. It is chemically altered, I believe, but I hardly ever eat these. Still, they're very tasty and I don't feel guilty afterwards.
