Simple Push-up Question

I'm working on the overall amount of push-ups I can do and wanted to get an accurate count. I was wondering if because I'm taller am I getting more work than guys who are shorter. I know that the U.S. Navy defines a push-up that when your upper arms become parallel to the ground and another site says a push-up is when your chest reaches 2-3 inches from the ground, but when my upper arms are parallel to the ground my chest is around 6 inches from the ground. Which method should I follow or if you have a completely different method I'd love to hear it and thanks in advance.

I know that CSEP testing protocol calls for either your nose or chin to just barely touch the ground at the bottom. Really, it doesn't matter which method you follow, unless you're planning a test with a certain organization.

In my opinion "The Parallel to the ground" thing is not Accurate at all, it's just something they say as to indicate the very least you have to get to consider it a proper pushup, and always ofcourse, going All the way back up. They say the same about Dips, but just like pushups, you Can and Should go further down for a Better pushup.

If it's just about the number, and the regulations say parallel to the ground, then whatever, Better that way, they're easy.

Yeah, I never managed to find someone to explain this clearly. Is it harder for Tall thin guys to do certain exercises, Example, the human flag. I have two short friends that can do it, and I can't hold it instead. I refuse to believe that I'm 'weaker' than them, I think it's about density and compund as you said Vince.
